Crazy Bread
I think whoever is making this bread is either is halfway insane or just really is bored of plain old oval-shaped bread. Just like every other day of this Italian summer has been (with the exception of the Venezia and Lido di Venezia spiaggia day...), most of the day was just relaxation at the house.
My morning:
--Sleep
--Wake up, shower, eat breakfast
--Have a nice conversation in Italian with Lucia (the cleaning-lady who, as you may remember, does not speak a lick of English, so it was challenging and quite confidence-booster!)
--Read some captivating chapters of Clockwork Orange
--Read a whole newspaper article in Italian about scientists finding the source of some deadly E. Coli outbreak in Germany... It was interesting, and it took me a half an hour to do it.
--Watch two enthralling episodes of House on my laptop (Ok, it was a two-part episode that was extremely intense! I had to watch them both in a row... he could have died for all I knew!)
--Eat lunch (prepared by Paolo, as Elena was at work all day. He also made a really great tiramasu, and he said he'd teach my mom how to make it (So watch out Mom! Kim, he could try to teach you too, but I don't know how much hope there is in that

Inside of the pizzeria, there is a tree. And in that tree is hung all sorts of curious objects--mostly silverware. Strange, but it fits the ambiance for some reason. I wonder if a branch on this tree grows every time a waitor lies... Geppetto may know. endeavor...)
--Watch "Tenacious D: Pick of Destiny" with Paolo... One of his favorite movies, and I must say, it was pretty great! (no offense to you Jack Black haters)
--Play Jenga with Paolo and Claudia
--Play Wii with Paolo (He beat me every time. That's ok. I'm an amateur foreign American guy).
But once we left the house for the evening, a lot of social things happened.
First, Elena dropped us off at the Festa dello Sport (I think I wrote the name wrong in a previous entry). There we met Davide and his girlfriend and chatted for a while (well, not his girlfriend. She wasn't too up to speaking English... 😊). Davide gave me two more gifts there (that guy likes giving gifts!)- one a 1000 dollar bill from Korea (may come in handy if I want to expose myself to possible death over there in East Asia!) and a really addicting wooden toy thing. It's hard to explain what it looks like and does. So just use your imagination. It was also fun watching Davide trying to find someone to light his cigarette (as his lighter was out of fluid). Finally, we found someone. Way to

The crazy band we saw some of tonight... Here, the lead singer is talking to a little girl. The singer has an eye painted on the top of his head, so if I were the little girl, I'd be creeped out a bit. go Davide!
Later, we went to the class pizza dinner. This was where all of the students from Paolo's class all met up at a pizzeria and ate pizza (so yes, I had pizza again, after a 2 day recess). The pizzeria's name? Pinnochio's (and I did have to tell some people that, yes, the English name for Pinocchio is, in fact, Pinocchio 😊. I sat by Clara, Antonella and Maria Elena and we talked about a bunch of random things. One thing we did laugh about was the fact that the drink menu said "Cola, Fanta, The freddo". I was sitting there puzzled at that for so long because I was thinking, "What in the world is 'freddo'? and Why is the English word 'the' in there?" It took me a minute or two to realize that "the" is one of the ways to spell the Italian word for "tea", and that freddo mean't "cold" in English. So the menu was really saying, "cold Cola, Fanta, Tea" We got a good laugh out of that one. Boy I was embarassed.
The pizzeria itself was very strange, with lots of interesting decorations that I've never seen in a

It unfortunately was not the best pizza I've ever had, and it took some people a really long time to get their food (some people had already finished their food!). Maybe next time I'll think twice before trusting a place called Pinocchio's...
When we left, Paolo and I walked back to the Festa dello Sport, where there was a concert going on by a band called "Ostetrika Gamberini" (crazy name, I know!). The first song I could hear them playing was "Jump" by Van Halen. "of course..." I thought, "another English-song band. That's ok, it's my type of music!". But the next songs that they played were in Italian, and I'm pretty sure that they were meant for little kids. The video that is included in today's blog has some clips of some of their songs--all the way up until Elena picked Paolo and I up to take us home (she has to work in the morning, so would rather not pick us up after midnight). They were a pretty decent band overall... their sound was very good and it was a very good

cover of the original songs. Only they cut a lot of them very short, and some of the words were wrong (unlucky for them to have a native English-speaker in the audience!) Still, I found them very entertaining, and was actually bummed to have to leave. Oh well. It happens!
So that's all for the day... I hoped you enjoyed my entry, photos, and video! (If there is an error saying you need the latest flash player to view the video, either you actually do need the latest player, or just ignore the message and click the title of the video (Ostetrika Gamberini Concert) in the top right corner of the video box. That should do it!)
Buon giornata a tutti, e buonanotte! (Good day to all, and goodnight!)

Any band where the lead singer wears a kilt can't be all bad....
