Staying with our Couch surfer John was a blast, a man who likes to party about as much as we do, perhaps even more. When we arrived to meet up with him we weren't too sure what it was going to be like but we were greeted by tight security and it seemed like we would never make it up to the apartment (John left a key for us).
Eventually we shook hands with the man, I still think of him as "The Man", cool guy.
We went out for some food to a Mexican place to watch the Mav's play...I think every person in Dallas is a huge fan of the Mav's (Think grand Final day back home?) well at first we didn't know who the Mav's even were but now we are fully educated on this matter. The Mavericks are Dallas' basketball team, and against all odds vs Miami heat they won, i'm not too sure if they've won their last game but good luck to them. Not bad.
The Mexican place was your typical Texas meal, huge and cheap which always makes me feel good due to getting bang for the buck, even though deep down no matter how much you try to finish it you never will.
After the game ended and everybody has smiles and were happier than pigs in shit we went off to a little dive bar called the One eyed penguin- now for those of you who don't know, the One eyed penguin means this (And I don't mean to get all Wiki on you)- actually, you'll have to look this one up 😉....
anyways after drinking a bit and John popping enough credits into the Jukebox for 25 songs we began to pick the nights playlist...poor dears, they were up for Spiceworld, Nutbush and Abba's dancing queen, we left before these number 1's were ready to play.
We went back to the room and watched a few movies before heading to bed. We were only meant to stay one night with John but that was to turn into two after we realized we still hadn't seen a lot in Dallas yet. In the morning we decided to all go out for breakfast to breadwinners, a delicious bakery/cafe/breakfast place with delicious candy alcohol coffee drinks and food, exactly what we all needed, followed by a long day of JFK and pictures.
It was awesome being able to stand exactly where JFK took his last breaths (Morbid anyone?!) and going to Grassy Knoll to see where the supposed second shooter hid. Around the fence there were tonnes of people that had taken the pen and texta to the site writing condolences and telling of conspiracy theories behind the second shooter, if there was one. We also managed to see where the first shooter, Lee Harvey took his shot from the sixth floor, there was a museum inside that building but we decided to just stick to the road in which it all took place, there were also outside information regarding the whole event, all in all it was pretty moving. Walking away we saw two pigeons, kissing...and then one jumping on top of the other....it was pretty funny to see a pigeon riding another pigeon, even though his intentions were a little different than it looked.
Ok so here is where things get ugly! Tarryn needs to pee...as always, and we try in vain to find a restroom which is open for the public, eventually we find an accepting place- the Heart Attack Grill- no really this IS a place!
We were greeted by the nurse, dressed up in one of those sexyland style outfits, who proceeded to pop on a wristband just like the hospital ones and an operating gown. Good lord.
I was like "I just needa go to the bathroom!" I was told this is a must to enter this restaurant.
We decide to stay and grab a bite to eat, the gimmicky menu, catches and people are too much to resist, clever marketing.
At this place if you weigh in at over 350 pounds and they DO check, you may eat for free. There is a blood pressure machine and the fattiest food you will ever see in your life, I myself couldn't eat there due to everything being fried in pig lard, but Bryce ordered the milkshake that seemed even too much for him, complete with garnished butter (The nurse actually pleaded with him not to eat it, I guess she'd seen her share for the day). I wanted to weigh myself just to see how much I did weigh these days, but was told I would be bood by the entire restaurant as I wouldn't make the cut. Woe.
So back to Johns, where we met Megan, another couchsurfer from California, awesome.
We went out that night and completely let loose, it was so much fun! We went to Lee Harvey's dive bar, had a few too many before heading off to another bar where we tried hooka bubbles and drank some more. It was marvelous- I will miss not having John and Meghan around, great homo-sapiens!
Waking up that morning sucked however it was time to move on from dirty Dallas to Memphis, home of the blues, Elvis and the bar scene. First stop was Little Rock- we needed to break up the trip somehow as it would've otherwise been a huge drive. We stayed with Couch Surf hosts Danielle and Race, two amazing people. They showed us around their home and introduced us to their friends (Danielle is having a baby soon!) we are so excited for them. Even at such a busy time they still accomodated us and made us feel at home, which we did feel like we were. We talked for ages, helping one of their friends plan their 8 month trip to Europe and the UK, before giving us a few songs on the guitar (They are really good!) and going to bed. The next day Race showed us all around little rock, a cute little town dating back to the 1800's? We went on a trolley car around the city and went to the Heifer museum, a place to show the fair trade and assistance the states provides to those less fortunate, we watched as little turtles floated in their lakes and smelt the fresh air, because there is tonnes of it away from the big smoke. We also ran into another Couch Surfer that night, as we decided to stay another night after they offered. Luke was another Aussie! It was fun to catch up with another Aussie who understood lame Aussie past times. He had a few better "Aussie" stories to tell everybody as well, so that was great. Danielle's mum was also over so we got to talk to her for a few hours about everything- including a few of her tequila stories. I played a bit more guitar and Race showed me how to maneover my Nikon camera to take more awesome shots- hopefully the pics only get better from here, and we chatted about everything you could think of, so happy we got to stay another night with this awesome family. It was sad to leave them as their friendliness and hosting was outstanding.
Driving to Memphis was a bit of a long haul but when we finally got there it was worth it. We saw guitars signed by Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Miley Cyrus- just about every famous person there is, we went to Guitar Museums, tourist shops, listened to live bands that beat out tunes like Bob Marley and had a beer on a patio people watching. That night was another seedy motel for a grand 30$ And in here it smells like smoke and weed, with fabreeze. Yummo. Oh and there are gangsters outside the room- we even managed a phone call who we thought was from reception but actually a man across from us telling us to buddy buddy put your bikes in your room. So we did- today we've woken up to a complete car that isn't on bricks and no smashed windows- phew, our luck proceeds us again. Well cheers for now, if i've forgotten anything ill add it in the next blog- we are now off to Graceland, to tour the Elvis masion, write on his fence and take loads of pictures.
Thankyou.
Thanyou very much.

Tarryn and Bryce

(Pics to come! we are about to get booted out the room for checkout.)

Nice blog
So--- who do you think had Kennedy killed? I think Johnson did it. We will never know for sure. Love to see some photos.

Thanks! I just realized I had messages on here. I'm not 100% sure on the Kennedy issue just because there are so many conspiracies out there, I am definitely going to read into it more once we have finished the trip.
