beach at Tarifa Hola from España!
As my European days dwindle down to nothing, you get your last blog post from me. Again, as I want to spend all of my time enjoying Spain, you wont be getting a lot of text. However, I will go into brief detail about my travels, and list some of the amazing food I have had here.
First, I arrived in Seville, Spain on the 17th of May from Ireland. Maria's parents picked us up at the airport, and we took the 2 hour ride home together. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings I had to work on a paper and presentation for RIT, so not much fun happened. However, on Wed. afternoon, Maria took me for a tour of her town, and the local city. It was raining, so we didn't walk much, but drove around. Thursday afternoon, we went to Marbella and walked along the beach and through the town. Very nice area.
Friday Maria's parents took us to a very nice restaurant along the Mediterranean coast for a huge fish lunch. (lunch in spain is the main meal, normally around 2 or 3, while dinner is lighter and around 9 or 10) I

Maria driving us around had lenguado as my main meal, and we shared fried shrimp, octopus, tuna with lard, and tortillita de camarones (a fried dough made of chick pea flour with salt and onions and little shrimps. Hard to explain really) as our appetizers. We then went on to Cadiz where Maria's parents went to college (her dad is a nurse, and her mom is a doctor). They had a really cool viewing station that used something like a submarine para-scope to view the entire city in a dark room. It worked like a camera attached to a projector, but it was all just mirrors. We then walked around the rest of the city before heading home.
Saturday Maria and I headed off to Granada where she goes to school. Her friends are still in school there, and one of her friends who was also studying abroad was also visiting. We hung out with the girls on Saturday, and that night Maria surprised me by taking me to an Arabic Bath House. It was a place with an ice cold pool, a warm pool, and a hot pool, as well as a steam room. Then while there, you got a massage too.

I think she was tired early on with me taking pictures of her It was very relaxing. The next day we went to the Alhambra, which was awesome. We headed back to her house Monday morning.
Since then, we haven't gone too far, but have been enjoying tons of local beaches. On Thursday, we went to Castillo de Castellar, which is the castle we walked through in the pictures. Had a wonderful meal there where I got to have Retinta beef, which was excellent. Saturday, Maria and I tried to get to the top of the rock of Gibraltar, but the cable cars were closed due to high winds. So instead we went and had a beer in McDonalds, then went to a Argentinean Grill for lunch. That night, Maria's aunt and uncle took us out with her little cousin for dinner in the little town of Conil. They were a lot of fun, even with the translation issues.
Anyways, that brings me to the present, where I'm off to cook an Irish stew for Maria's parents. As always, any questions or comments feel free to post them. I like knowing you guys are reading 😊
See you all soon!

Great photos! Too bad you didn't get to the top of the Rock of Gibraltar. Guess you'll just have to go back someday soon :)
