We arrived at the train station and had to travel to another station then take a bus to the campsite. We noticed people that looked just like us (big backpack on the back and small one on the front), yes they were one of us, and they looked lost. So we ended up showing them the way the get there, and they helped too!
We got to the campsite and we were staying in a tent but this was no tent that you would picture camping in back home. This tent had a sliding door that locked, and two bunk beds in there with two ligths as well. This was a pretty nice tent. The rest of the day we just hung out and did some much needed laundry. The campsite had these strange footbath looking things that are actually an outdoor bathroom. Very strange, but thankfully we didn't ever see anyone using them. The view from the top of the camp site was absolutely beautiful! It looked out over the entire city and was stunning at night. Florence is placed in a valley between a few beautiful mountains. It is very lush and green around the city and has great

Our pizzas!! views from the top of our campsite.
We had our first Italian pizza at the diner overlooking the city and a great glass of the house red to wash it down. The pizza was pretty good and because we were so nice the "pizza man" as our weighter called him, made our pizza crusts in a shape of a heart and a sun for us 😊.
The day after we arrived we had cereal in our tent with the wonderful milk that doesn't need to be referigerated that is so common in Europe. The grocery store at our camp site had almost everything that we needed to pack a lunch and have a decent breakfast. After breakfast we walked down to the city and wandered around the town where we got to see the statue of David, along with the Santa Maria Cathedral and many other things that we can't think of at the moment. We got all of our touristy things out of the way the first day that we were in Florence so that we could spend the rest of the days there exploring the town and shopping. We found a huge Iris garden not too far from
where our campsite was and wandered around it for quite a while soaking up some sun and enjoying the great colors and smells of all the flowers. We also stumbled into a "biological" market, which is European terms for organic and had fresh baked bread with green olives baked into it with sheep cheese and freshly made cannolis. It was the best lunch ever. 😊
Our last day in Florence we found a cute park to have lunch at and enjoy the water features nearby and also did a little shopping, We bought a few souveniers from the town and Rachael bought her first real italian leather purse. It was a successful and relaxing time in Florence, now off to Rome!!
