well maybe not bliss, as geneva is kinda boring really. not that much to do, but had great company so it was definitely worthwhile! had a lovely breakfast at the hotel this morning. cereal with cold (actually was cold) milk, croissants, breads, toast, jam, juice, and of course a couple of croissants/breads stuffed into my bag ("purse" lol) for snacking later!

loaded up all my dirty laundry (and had to wear dirty clothes as i should have done laundry a couple days ago - i brought six outfits and today is day 10 since doing laundry at jeff and jennifers before leaving hehe yes i'm a dirtbag. so anyways loaded up the clothes, caught the train downtown and met up with emily and curtis at their hotel. decided to leave the laundry till the afternoon siesta time and we hit the streets. walked and walked towards the red cross museum and the botanical garden. another beauty of a day, sunny and 10 to start, 15ish in the afternoon and then still reasonable warm at night. perfect sightseeing weather, and got a bit of a tan too.

passed by the big UN property here and met a couple of nice wisconsian gals that asked us to take a pic for them, so i got them to take one of us of course. anyways the red cross museum was mildly interesting but really small. they did have lots of good videos from the world wars and battles, dead people, life in the trenches, etc. after that we head out to the botanical gardens. wow our gardens are really lacking compared to these beautifully manicured ones. lots of flowers, trees, shrubs, so many colors shapes and sizes.

started getting a bit hungry by this point and we were hoping for a picnic but most stuff seemed to be closed since it was sunday. so we walked back downtown and found a kebap place. delicious! i had a lamb sandwich, curtis a lamb plate and emily a chicken sandwich. and i had a can of fanta. awesome!

after lunch head back up to the hotel where curtis and emily relax for a while, and i head down to the laundromat to do my laundry. not too difficult to figure it all out, even took off my t-shirt and socks and just wore a sweater and bare feet in sneakers so i could get everything washed at once. another week of clean clothes feels good! lol

anyways, we head back out to walk around the lake and over hte river to see the big jet close up. they have a 'jet', or fountain in the lake near downtown that shoots water waaaay up in the air. pretty sad when thats your main attraction, but all right anyways. we get right up close and get misted on. there are also dozens of swans in the lake, very cool. and flies! holy mother worse than i've ever seen it at home. the flies were maggoty! there was a huge swarm up at the top of a tree. hope that pic comes out.

anyways then try to find some supper and just end up buying a sandwich from a convenience store and eat it at emily and curtis' hotel room. we say our goodbyes and i head back to my hotel. they fly out in the morning, hopefully they'll have good flights! now here i am in the hotel lobby using the free internet. gotta decide where to go tomorrow, and i can't decide! flying home from frankfurt next wednesday, and have 3 or 4 days worth of things to do in germany before then (nuremburg, rothenburg, mosel valley, burg eltz) but have almost a week to play with before then. so thinking abouyt heading to southern france to see carcassonne, maybe pop in to spain to see barcelona (need to have at least one new country on this trip!)... too many choices, not nearly enough time. and i'm a lucky one to be here at all.

bye for now!

Swiss flies
Knew there had to be flies SOMEWHERE else, bad job to have a monopoly on them, (lol) Comparing OUR gardens with European ones needs a level playing field --give us the soil and the climate and we'll show 'em. See your trip is going well, biggest problem deciding where to go next you lucky fellow. Spain is reputed to be hot. We're all feeling a bit envious at this point. Nice to have SOME of the family back to base. Dave has decided to take the extra week after all and bring back the wheels. bye Jason, keep safe, Nan
