It's hard to believe we are already almost half way through April! Our days seem to run together in one big blur. George and Jacob continue with their personal evangelism classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Mondays we have attempted to set aside for those tasks that always need doing. Sundays, of course, are busy with worship.

Today being Monday, George, Carey and Luke had a hog killin'! No, it wasn't the ones next door to us, unfortunately. Meat is very expensive here, and not that great, so our family and the Samford family each purchased a pig and they slaughtered them at the Samford place. George and Luke were real cut ups! The pigs weren't that big, but they did allow us to put some meat in the freezer. We didn't take any pictures, but the Samfords did, so maybe we will share some of those with you later.

I finally finished my first booklet for ladies; it is entitled "How can I Serve?" We had 100 copies printed and Sunday I met with the ladies and gave each of them a copy. I basically put it into their hands as what they'd like to do, and they decided that they would like to meet once a week to study it. They are coming to our house this coming Saturday and then we will take turns going to each others' homes. I asked one of the ladies, whom I thought was one who was most qualified, to teach the first lesson. They wanted me to do it, but I am not proficient enough at Swahili to do a very good job. I think my day is coming, though! (I don't think they will let me off the hook too many times. 😊 ) I hope that this will be a good tool to help them grow spiritually, as well as an opportunity for the ladies to grow closer to one another. The study necessary to prepare the booklet has certainly been good for me.

George and I continue our Swahili lessons twice a week - Mondays and Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm. We're supposed to fit studying Swahili in between those days, so our brains are a bit mushy.

I've also been able to get a couple of sewing projects completed; a couple of dresses for Lindsey.

We are thankful that we've finally got our water storage system ironed out somewhat; although its cleanliness leaves something to be desired. I ran some water for a bath the other day, and well...you can look at the picture to see what it looked like!

Jacob has come down with some sort of bug; probably shared by some children at services. 😊 He's had a fever on and off of a little over 103 plus some chest congestion, so he's feeling pretty rough. Prayers would be greatly appreciated!

We hope you all make this a great week.

In Him,
Joy

Thanks for the update. I remember the dirty water of Africa. That tub photo brought back many happy (?) memories. We used to do hog killing back on the farm in indiana when I was growing up. A missionary has to develop a lot of skills, doesn't he? Brenda and I have just returned from a three week trip to Australia to visit Brett and his family in Tasmania. I preached for the three faithful congregations while there. We enjoyed our grandchildren and getting to see old friends, visit familiar places, and eat our favorite Australian foods. The time in Tasmania was fun. The travel was not. I don't care to see the inside of an airplane again for a very long time. We had our choice of being photographed nude or being sexually molested in a body search when we arrived in LA. We opted for the latter. I wish we would just profile like every sensible nation in the world rather than subject travelers to such extreme, immodest and ridiculous invasions of privacy. We keep you in our prayers. Keep up the good work. Rod
