Time to revive the ole travelblog for another spontaneous spring trip.

Spent three great days in Ottawa with Jeff, Jennifer, Kyle and Cody. Weather wasn't exactly perfect, snow and rain Monday, but cleared off on Tuesday and finally started to warm up a bit just as I left. Surprise surprise. Monday kinda just hung around at home and went to bed early, played with the boys and such. Tuesday dropped Jeff off at work and had the downtown rush hour driving experience, which I should say wasn't too bad at all. Went to the Canadian War Museum which was interesting. Five sections, one for old wars, one for each world war, then one for korean/cold wars, and one about the Canadian place in currentish world affairs. ok thats four and i can't remember the last. oops. Was pretty interesting but not really much new information we didn't learn in school but the museum was new and everything was set up really well. Had one of Hitlers old cars there and lots of weapons and first hand accounts of battle, life in trenches, holocaust, etc etc.

Went out for dinner Tuesday night with Krista and Cathy to a great Mexicanish restaurant, Agave. Great to hook up with old friends, even if only for a couple hours! Plus got to finally meet Riker, Krista and Dannys pupper!

Wednesday Jeff had the day off work so we took the kids to the Canadian Museum of Nature. Great displays on mammals, dinosaurs, the arctic, birds, oceans. I've been to a lot of natural history museums, and this one was on par with the others I've seen and was fun to watch the kids slide like penguins. Cody was a little afraid of the big T-rex and all his sharp teeth, but we got a pic of Kyle with his head in the dinos mouth haha Jeff and Jennifer went out to supper and I watched two well-behaved boys for the evening. Went across the street to the park for an hour or so, played on the swings. But it was pretty chilly so headed home and curled up on the couch until mommy adn daddy came home to put them to bed!

Thursday was my day to leave. Kyle poked Cody in the eye and gouged out a piece of his cornea! Emergency trip to the optometrist for some eye drops, and made for a hectic afternoon since I had to be at the airport for my flight at 5. But it all worked out and hopefully the poor little guy is feeling better by now!

Got to the airport super early, and tried to check in at hte machine. It didn't like me. So up to the counter I go and there's some kind of problem with the Munich-Venice part of the flight so I can't get a boarding pass and told to get it in Munich. That upped the stress level since our connection was only an hour.

Met Emily in Toronto, hung out for a couple hours nad board our flight to Munich. Managed to snag an exit row of 2 seats which was just wonderful. Hilarious boarding though, the plane was half empty so they had to move a whole bunch of people around to balance the weight on the plane. Well some the passengers went nuts. I seriously thought they were going to call the police and remove some people, the flight attendants were getting pissed bc people wouldn't move to their new seats. It was only for take-off and they could move back but apparently that was too much for some people! but anyways we got away on time and everything worked out. Got to Munich and got our boearding passes no trouble. When boarding, the gate agent had our names handwritten on her list and seemed amazed that we had somehow managed to get boarding passes before we got there. How she thought we were getting back through security without them is beyond me, but her rapid German to her coworker might as well have been Klingon to us. Anyways, got on the plane and just as we get to the runway, the plane ahead of us stops halfway through their takeoff and 5 or 6 fire engines rush up to the plane and we quickly pull back off the runway. Not sure what happened but it got resolved and off we go.

Venice, 25 degrees!! get to the airport, not sure if someone is picking us up or not. unfortunately, not. Figure out how to get the bus to Pordenone, get there, see a sign showing a bus to Azzano Decimo where the wedding is taking place. Hop on that bus, get to town and happily see one of our friends riding a bike down the street and he directs us to the hotel!

Now i managed to get a half hour sleep on the plane and another half hour on one of the buses, so I was exhausted last night. Stayed up til 10 since we had to go out and get some pizza, gelato, and fanta. And I also got Fanta zero! only 15 calories lol so now I can enjoy the fanta without the sugar. Now if only they could make fat free gelato.... hahaha

up this morning and getting ready for the wedding. not sure how wearing a black suit in stifling 26 degree weather is going to work, sweat fest for sure. everyone is talking about how unreal the weather is for this time of year. i'd love a suntan but wish i'd brought shorts! i was expecting 15 degrees, not this heat wave!

Grrrr I'm trying to add pictures and it won't let me. wedding is starting soon so i'll have to figure it out later, it says they're too small!! half the reason i brought my laptop with me was to make this stuff easier! ahhhh
next update - italian wedding. might ahve to wait till tomorrow as i'm told there's wine specifically chosen to match each of the seven courses of the meal. sounds like a good deal to me!!
