Good Morning New Zealand! I've got some catching up to do...
It's 6:30 Tuesday morning, and after taking a 14 hour "nap", we are ready to get up and explore this beautiful countryside.
Our very very very long flight over here wasn't actually all that bad. We left around midnight on saturday night, watched an episode of House and Modern Family, took a nyquil, and the next thing we knew, we woke up to a beautiful sunrise. It was about 6:00am monday morning when we woke up, so I'm guessing that we got about 6 hours of sleep or so on the plane. Unfortunately it wasn't the most restful sleep...most everyone around us was either sneezing, coughing, or blowing their nose. Thank goodness for Airborne. :-)
When we stepped off the plane, we found our rental car and after a few minutes of Jonathan adjusting to the fact that the steering wheel was on the right side of the car...we took off on our adventure! Driving on the left side of the road took some getting used to, but he was a pro in no time. Minus the fact that every time he wanted to turn his turn signal on, he turned the wiper blade on instead!
We drove about 3 hours southeast of Auckland to a cute little town called Rotorua. Apparently they're known for their geothermal springs which are supposed to have magical healing power! They do have a very strong sulfur smell, so we decided to skip that stop! We found a beautiful bed and breakfast, called Panorama, with spectacular views of the lake and hills from our bedroom. Jonathan is out taking pictures of the beautiful sunrise at this very moment!
So, our plan today is to do more exploring, then at noon we are going white water rafting. Jonathan has gone before, but this will be my first time.
Don't worry mom, we'll be safe!! :-)

So fun! I love that you didn't make reservations somewhere. The picture looked beautiful! So glad you're going to let us peek into your world adventure. Safe travels! :)
