To California - Day 1 - Memphis, TN

It's only thanks to Homer Simpson that we drove straight from Franklin, North Carolina to Memphis, Tennessee.

We woke at 7am and left by 8:30 - not bad for us chronic sleeper-in-ers. So we did our last bit of packing in the rain, kissed our cats’ good-bye and jumped in the car.

Rain, rain, rain....we listened to Tolle on a CD and talked in complete sentences--even finishing thoughts. I love confined space - sometimes.

We arrived in Memphis about 6:00pm, dropped our stuff, and headed out for the heart of Memphis - Beale Street - where the blues magic began and continues. We ate at BBQ place right on Beale Street. It has a big fork dancing out front so we knew it had to be good. I got 6 shrimp--they died of garlic inhalation. And Tim ordered the Memphis BBQ and Cat fish. I guess they combine sea and cow here.

Then we walked a bit around Beale Street, walked on the music notes imbedded in the sidewalks of giants, and listened to the cacophony of music in the rain. Yes it was STILL raining.

We were cold and damp so we promised we'd come back for a week some time when it's warm and left.

As Homer Simpson says--"Yahoo - you reached your distention! You can hold you head up high. You are a genius!"

And so we are--but we're putting our heads and butts to bed--gotta get up and drive to Oklahoma tomorrow. Night-night...

I think we should meet in Memphis next time. We'll have to catch B B King at his place on Beale!! Ok, now I can say it, I'm jealous, but so happy for you both. don't let the fun stop !! Go west young gypsies.....
