Dank je wel voor doing my weekly wash!
Tuesday night I went out with the lovely Spanish students to the Speeltuin for some live jamming jazz and they made me get up and join in the band, singing 'don't worry about a thing'!
Today in class we had to decide on a story for our theatre attraction, but in a group of 14 students that didnt go down too well. Too many ideas and not enough open minds to accept, negotiate and adapt or alter ideas. I sat back and listened most of the time then added my views and suggestions on how to make it work as a team. They all seem anxious about settling with an idea when they know our tutor has her own strong ideas on what she might want to see so instead they want to wait and hear what she has to say! I guess they are used to having a specific brief to work with. I'm looking forward to seeing how this team building will develop! Together with one other student I have been given the ingredient, 'interactive' to focus on yet most ideas of interactivity seem pretty passive, like walking around an attraction, or communicating with actors. Whereas I'd like to introduce a social team building aspect of interactivity like a treasure hunt for example where the story depends mostly on the audience.
Saturday I am planning to meet some family friends in Zoetermeer where I lived the first four years of my life!

Nice photo of you and Joke :) say hello to the Dijkstra family from me!! Hannah was telling me funny things she has done to strangers like saying 'boo' when someone is walking past and staring at their phone, or simply going up to someone and asking them where they got their shoes/bag/coat from cos she likes it. Made me think of interactive theatre again. She does surprising interaction with strangers - communicating with people in ways they do not expect. Like ask the audience questions. I guess comedians do that too. Anyway, I hope everyone gains more confidence to be flexible and self-expressive! Have fun xxx
