Don't I look like I belong in ancient times?
So I woke up this morning with my pyjamas on backwards. Apparently last night was a lot of fun on the pub crawl. No seriously, I met a bunch of people (one guy looks just like Sean William Scott aka Stiffler) and some girls who are just about mimicking my trip so I might get to meet up with them in Greece.

I will admit, I have tried very hard on this trip to make sure that I do not look like a tourist. I am discreet when I look at maps and take photos, and try to speak the language when I can. I will say that the Vatican tour was pretty damn good, and there's no other way I would have done it. The hostel advertises the Rome(ing) tours company and the girl Spring from Texas is a Italian/Drama major living here, and her job is pretty cool. She told us about the city, explained the important art pieces and gave us tidbits like which artworks Michaelangelo liked best, and how crazy Nero was. Since I don't know the bible stories it helped alot, otherwise I would have gone to the Sistine Chapel and ouued and awwed without knowing the depth behind it. Plus we saw the Pope (Laura aren't you jealous?) he was very far away and about thisbig but still I saw him.
Did you know that if you stopped for 30 seconds in front of each piece of artwork in the Vatican museum without eating sleeping or anything, it would take you 12 years to see it all. WOW. I wish I could upload my pics but all the hostels don't allow usb ports used. Tomorrow I"ll be burning my photos onto cds, so Mom watch out for those in the mail!
Today I saw the Colusseum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Forum, and the ruins. It's so great, like walking through a city that's just been ransacked ... thousands of years ago. Canada is such a young country. We are all so young.
I was surprised at how I could walk everywhere here. It took me no time at all to walk from the Vatican to the Spanish Steps, but I keep looking at the maps like it's Canada and nothing is close together. And why can't North America have places to just sit and hang out like here? Our only common space

Gelato still in hand, this was a cool place to hang out.
is the mall, and that sucks. Prolly it's cuz of the weather, it's so nice here. I met some nice Canadians and Americans today to hang out with, we had a very Italian meal at this cute restaurant, it was great. Ah, Roma!

Squeezed in not too far from the Vatican, this is the most impressive architecture I've seen to date.

To stand in the Colluseum where so much happened so many many years ago, it's hard to describe, it's actually staggering.
