Little White Chapel of loooovee
No, sorry to disapoint you mum, we resisted the temptation of live long commitment!! After almost being blinded by the amount of lights shining from the city at night, Trev and I threw our bags into the Sin City Hostel and headed down the strip. It was bout midnight by the time we got to the big casinos and most the shows had finished so we just wandered about taking in all the sights and sounds. We also got to meet the Las Vegas weirdos who seem to love bus stops and have taken advice from the LA weirdos and constantly ask for a dollar! As soon as you get into Vegas you can't help but notice its seedy underbelly, there are touts, pimps, cards and flyers advertisling escorts and prostitutes everywhere most people dont venture of the main strip for these reasons. We also got our first look of a stretched Hummer but soon got bored of them as they were everywhere.
The next day we met a couple (while Trev was doing his long awaited laundry) who were going to Flagstaff, our next stop, by car. We've had a few problems with train times and getting there then on to the next stop was a bit tight so when they offered us
Paris - Las Vegas
It did start to get a bit confusing about what country we were in! a lift we decided to Vegas in a day and night!
So we headed off. First stop was food. Vegas is famous for its buffets so after it being recommeded to us, we stopped at the Riviera but the buffet was closed, dam it. The actual casino is a real old school one and a bit shabby so we headed onto Tresure Island (TI). It was very flash and went for the buffet there (suprisingly cheap). The selection was huge and all freshly cooked. There was sushi, oriental, regional BBQ, salads, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and seafod. There was also the biggest selection of dessert, anything you could think of and it was there. Trev and my eyes nearly popped out our heads as we'd been living off 1 meal a day for 3 weeks. Two hours later we'd tried it all! Unfortunately, Trev stomach must have shrunk coz a couple of hours later, he had to force himself to throw up in the posh toilets at the Venetian bless him, thinking I was hardcore eater Trev reminded me that he'd eaten about 3 more dinners than me, true! At night we watched the show out the front. "Sirens of
Mans Paradise
"Cold beers and Dirty Girls" what more could a guy ask for!! TI" was deffiantely not a family show, lots of scantily clad woman and buff guys making lots of cheeky innuendos!
We went onto the Mirage after and saw a huge Aquairium at the hotel lobby and searched for the tigers that were apparently there but we couldn't find. In the evening, we watched the fake volcano erupt which was pretty disappointing really. We then went to the HUGE Caesars Palace. In the inside, very posh shopping area there is a fake sky that changes from dusk to dawn every 30 mins which was very cool and weirdly real. I found a Jimmy Choo shop and just stared through the window for a bit (no way I was going in there in flip-flops and worn out travelling clothes!).
Next we went to the Bellagio (think Oceans 11). It was amazing. The inside was mega swanky, has loads of extremely posh bars and resturants and a big conservatory with beautiful flower displays. We played the slots but being on a buget, limited ourselves. I came out $2 up, better than nothing! Out the front is a massive 8 acre lake which has a water fountain display. It was stunning. We
Dreaming of Jimmy Choos
Me in The shopping area of Caesars Palace under a fake sky which was very impressive. watch it both in the day and at night. Both we're brilliant but the night one topped as the lights made the water seem even more alive. Music from Frank Sinatra, Shirley Bassy and Lionel Richie played along with it and the shoots seemed to be dancing to it! We did hear a very cheesy, "we love America" song play but decided to ignore that one and walked on passed!
We carried on up the strip and found New York, New York which (slightly obviously) is a mini version of the city with the empire state building, statue of Liberty etc. It had a little section dedicated to 9/11 which was moving. There is also Paris-Las Vegas which again suprisingly has a mini Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triumph. We carried on walking to Excalibar which lots like a fairytale castle, at this point i really did think we about to bump into mickey Mouse! We reached the Luxor which is a huge glass pyramid with Sphinx and obelisk outside, it also has a light at the top point of the pyramid which shines with the strength of 4 billion candles and heads right up into the sky, you
Walk like an Eygptain
So maybe not so authentic but pretty huge structures at the Luxor can see it from anywhere in Las Vegas. We didn't actually go inside any of these ones as we didn't really have the time and to be honest, however flashy they looked they're all Casinos in the end. We did go inside the MGM Grand, the grand daddy of casinos. Even though its one of the originals, its still very funky, with dancing on the bars and lion cubs playing in an inside habitat (so cute).
The last casino we went to was the Venetian. It was dark by this time but inside it was daytime and the weirdest feeling. It had a fake sky, like Caesars, but it looked like a proper town with canals running through it and Gondalas floating along them (this is on the second floor too!), in one area there was a small town square and a band playing while people were eating at outside at various resturants (well it looked like they were eating outside), it even looked liked the sun was setting over one side of the town sqaue. It was unbelievable and even the air conditioning gave a little breeze really making us feel like we were outside. Las Vegas is
Big Daddy
The huge gold lion was very cool but not as cute as the lion cubs inside pretty cool but completely cheesy but would be so much better with a big group of friend and whole lot more money.
The next day, before leaving, we popped into "the worlds biggest souvenier store" which seemed to have its own police force! We soon headed off to Flagstaff with Garry and Nicole in their huge (blagged) SUV.
P.S Fisky, Trev says you'd love this place so start saving so you can gamble to your heart content (and probably blow it all!).
P.S I (trev) also want to add that when I got sick it was by choice I could have held it in if I had wanted but I wanted to enjoy the rest of the evening without having a bloated stomach!!
