Getting the Monorail from KL Sentral

It was fortunate I arrived in KLIA ahead of schedule and made good time to KL Sentral, because it took about as long to find the monorail station to get the train to Bukit Bintang as it did to travel in from the airport on the Ekspres train.

In the station itself there are plenty of red signs directing to the KL Monorail but once outside the station, alas, no more signs; a poorly-lit road with coaches and taxis, and on the other side what my 2006-dated guidebook said should have been a market but instead a building site. So, in the interest of hopefully making it so that time didn't completely go to waste and helping some other new arrivals in KL out:

How to get to KL Sentral Monorail Station

1) Follow the red signs (like the one in the photo, right) within the station. The one shown in the picture is the last one - go down the stairs next to the escalator. If you plan to travel somewhere else in Malaysia by train, you could buy a ticket now at the Intercity ticket counter. If not, proceed...

2) Turn left at the bottom of the stairs. You'll probably go past some coaches and then a rank of taxis. There's a building site on your right and at the end of the road it looks like its coming to a dead end...

3) ...but no, to the right at the end of this road is an entrance to a walkway covered with corrugated metal sheeting. Go through this walkway and follow it around the edge of the building site to the main road. You'll come to a junction where there's an Esso garage, and see big building signed YMCA. When you get to this junction, turn right. There's a road sign that says 'monorail' across the road near the garage - don't take any notice of this, I guess it's for car drivers.

4) The monorail station is about 250m down the road on the left-hand side (you'll need to cross the road).

Thanks!
Thanks for this post. I would have probably gotten totally lost trying to make this connection to KL Monorail.
