Lasse and i are on our second day on our motorycle tour in the central part of vietnam. we've been riding with our guide through the most amazing countryside that includes rice fields, small villages and pathways. the roads are not that busy at all, and we see NO tourist buses here. its so cool to be riding and only seeing motorcycles on the road and the odd truck. motorcyles carrying people to work, carrying all manner of things, whole families on the bikes, all going about their business. we see the odd waterbuffalo coming down the road and lots of small dogs running about. many people stop to stare at us and call out "hello" to us and wave as we go by. its very cool to see how friendly people are and curious. we spent some time today at a small village tribe who live in bamboo thatched one room huts and which have only sleeping space and a small fire for cooking. i'd say the huts are half the size of my bedroom and sleep one or two families with at least 4 children each. they live their traditional life without any modern conveniences (ie toilets, running water) or medicine. its a hard existence but they are happy.
we've been really enjoying ourselves doing this motorcycle tour and particularly doing it by motorcyle as i think its the best way to really experience vietnam!
