In another entry we wrote about the Carpathian Church of Saint Archangel Michael. To visit the church we had to climb Petřín Hill. The church is located about half way up the hill. It is such a pleasure to see how beautiful the city has made the park in the area of the Carpathian Church. There are overlooks built out so you can see down the hill. The entire path is made up of lovely stones set into walkways. There are pools of water, sculptures, lovely curved stairways, little waterfalls, and stairways with water in channels bubbling down the hill. This is most certainly one of the loveliest parts of the entire Petrin Hill park. Some parts are covered with fruit trees which are white with blossoms in the spring, others have attractions like the rose garden, the replica of the Eiffel Tower, the dear hidden garden which I love winter, summer, spring and fall, trails in wild wooded areas, etc. but to my eyes this area has been made purely for the enchantment of the hill climber.

Petřín Hill overlooks Malostranská, the little quarter of Prague. It is part of the western river bluff of the Valtava River and the highest point in Prague on this side of the river. The hill is filled with parks. There are numerous well used trails that wind their way up, down and around. The St. Vitus Cathedral and Prague palace lie on a ridge south of Petrin Hill. The entire lovely city of Prague seems to sit at the foot of this hill. On the funicular which goes up another part of Petrin you can turn and see the city, the river, the bridges and much more. From the pathways you get a changing view of Prague with each turn in the path. If you have been here and have not climbed and walked around Petrin Hill, you simply have NOT been to Prague.
