DAY 36
Got up at around 7.30am and headed down to arrange transport to the airport. We organized a shuttle as it was just as cheap as a taxi. It was going to pick us up at 11am. We headed next door to the deli for breakfast, for my last brekky in USA, i got the same as the day before raisin and cinnamon bagel with cream cheese which was delicious! Scott got a bacon, cheese and egg croissant. We then headed to Times Square to the Disney store which had only opened the day before. We found some more cool things to buy - just to add some more weight to our bags! We headed down to Midtown Comics which Scott had been meaning to check out all week - but they didn’t open til 11am so he missed out unfortunately. We popped past Walgreens, to grab some mouth wash and some cold/flu tablets for me as i think i am getting a cold/flu and i wanedt to get onto it early! Next we headed to Best Buy, which is like JB Hi-Fi. We bought 4 games for the xbox and a DVD to watch as we can now watch
it in HDMI. This was the last of our spending! Got back to the hotel, added our new additions to our bags and headed downstairs to wait for our shuttle. It arrived just after 11am and the driver was a little bit of a hoon! I guess it was a good way to end our New York experience! He honked at everyone and called them idiots and kept changing lanes, it was quite funny. But this is really how everyone drives in New York, i don’t think i could do it!! We drove out over the Queensboro Bridge and through Queens which was a very different landscape to Manhattan. It was a bit more open and spacious. We got to the airport on time and checked our luggage. We had a bit of a close shave with our weight allowance, but after some shuffling of stuff, we got each bag under 50 pounds. However, we did have to pay for a 2nd checked bag as suspected.
We grabbed some lunch, boarded the plane - which was another little one, and began our journey to Buffalo. The flight was just over an hour and we landed no problems. It did however
Our room in NYC
pretty spacious for NY look very wet and cold outside the plane. After collecting our luggage, we grabbed a cab to take us to our hotel. Traffic was no problem and before we new it we were crossing into Canada. We had our passports checked without any hassle and arrived at the hotel at about 4.30pm. We checked in and then headed downstairs to book a tour for tomorrow - it includes the skylon tower, behind the falls, niagara’s fury, imax, buttery house and the whirlpool rapids. The tour leaves at 9.45am and goes for 4 hours. We then headed out down the street to look at the falls. It was absolutely freezing outside, but the views were well worth it. We walked along the walkway for awhile, before realising we needed to catch the train down to the next level - it is about 100m long and just descends down a steep slope. We did this for $2.50 each and went through the visitors centre to see the falls close up. They are really just huge and so loud!! You could feel the cold just emanating from the water! We walked along the path on the edge of the falls for awhile taking
Another shot
cool old fire place photos. As it started to get dark, we headed up the main street to get a hot chocolate. The street was like a mini Vegas for kids! There was bowling, haunted houses, wax museums, arcades - it was really cool. Once it was dark we took a ride on the ferris wheel where we got to see the falls lit up at night. After that we walked back towards our hotel and stopped in at Margaritaville for dinner. I ordered the nachos and it was the biggest nachos i have seen in my entire life!! They were huge. Needless to say i didn’t finish them and it didn’t even look like i’d touched them! Scott got Ribs and he impressively managed to finish all the ribs, though he didn’t finish the chips or side of corn. We had a few margaritas there as well of course! After dinner, i was pretty tired after not getting a lot of sleep last night and wanted to get some rest with this stupid cold coming on so we headed back to the hotel. Just typing up the blog and then i’m calling it at night - it is almost 10pm though so that’s

Giant nachos!!!!
Falls look great, although it does look really cold. Great views from your room. Why do they serve such huge meals? Who could possibly eat that amount of food?
