Today Show DAY 34
Got up this morning about 7am and went downstairs to our deli for brekky. We headed over to the Today Show again to watch the taping. We got to see them all broadcast from outside again and this time Meredith Vierra was there which was cool as i used to like her when she was on the View. We stayed and watched for about ½ hour and its possible we were on TV as we were front row out the front when they panned the audience outside. From here we walked up 6th Avenue to Central Park. We walked around for about ½ hour before we figured out where the zoo was and headed over there. It didn’t open until 10 so we had to wait for about 15 minutes to buy our tickets.
Once it opened we headed straight in. First up we saw the seals, which are in a big pool in the middle of the zoo. It is a pretty cool enclosure; they are like in an infinity pool! We watched them before we headed in to see the penguins, polar bears, snow leopard, red panda, snow monkeys and some other monkeys. One of the really

Love art 6th Avenue cool parts of the zoo was the tropical zone, which is a big enclosure that is heated so it resembles a tropical climate. There are tonnes of birds that fly free in there, but also some separate enclosures. We got to see snakes, frogs, mongoose, dwarf mongoose, lemurs, bats and much more. Scott was in heaven taking photos of them all!! It was also nice to be out of the cold!! Just as we were leaving the keepers were doing a seal show so we stayed to watch that and they certainly do put on a show - big attention seekers!!
From here walked back into Central park and walked around for awhile. Ended up at “the mall” which is a big spacious area where buskers play music and is a good place to meet. We walked down to the lake from here and hired a boat for an hour to row in the water. The cool thing is in the winter the lake becomes an ice skating rink - so cool!! The boat was nice and relaxing and we both had a go at steering - Scott was way better than me! We then walked our way through the

Central park Ramble which is just as it sounds, a lot of paths that criss cross and go up and down. You really felt like you were in the middle of nowhere! We saw about a billion squirrels which was cool cos they are so cute! At the end of the ramble, we stumbled upon a castle where we found a map of the park which would have come in handy earlier in the day! So we were able to make plan as to where to go to next. The view from the castle was pretty cool - could see turtle pond under it and about 6 playing fields! From the castle we headed over to the MET which is the metropolitan museum of art. We walked around there for about an hour, so much to see some of which was interesting some wasn’t. It is quite weird though what some people consider art - as some of the paintings i reckon i could have done! Once we left here we grabbed some food from the food cart - i got a giant pretzel and Scott got a hotdog. We then walked back into Central Park and tried to make our way

Central Park to the top. Central park finishes at 110th street and we managed to get to about 103rd street before we decided to catch the metro down to dinner. We kinda weighed up our options and realized if we wanted to catch the subway to Washington Square it would be easier to stop then rather than walking all the way to the top and back again. The coolest thing about central park is that there are so many different areas in it - zoos, playing fields, tennis courts, running tracks, lakes, reservoirs.....just so big!!
Our plan was to go back to the vegetarian restaurant we had spotted the day before. We managed to buy our subway tickets without any hassle and jumped on the train to 4th street/Washington square. We found the street that the restaurant was on, but decided we’d grab a beer before dinner as it was still early. We found a pretty cool looking local bar on the corner and headed on in. It was happy hour, which was a bonus so we got $4 pints of beer. The place was pretty funky, you got free peanuts that you cracked and threw on the floor - a

Central Park little bit like what Lone Star used to do. After awhile we got chatting to the bartender and ended up having about 3 pints there before dinner - could have sat there all night drinking but thought we should get some food!
Got into the veggie restaurant no problem and ordered our food and some organic beer. For appetizer we got veggie nuggets and veggie dumplings which were both really nice. For main, Scott had veggie steak and i had veggie chicken. Again both really good. We even managed to share a dessert - chocolate tofu cake, which was so yum!!
We decided to catch a taxi back from dinner as we couldn’t be bothered walking to the subway to catch the train. Taxi was cheap and we were back at the hotel by about 8pm. After checking emails etc...it was off to bed for another early night.

Wow!!
Central Park looks amazing particularly as it is "fall" in America and the trees look awesome. Luv the continuing squirrel photos.
