Had a brief stay near Powburn to get the washing done and relax after the excitement of Scotland, not much to report really, nice and quiet, good blackberries. Moved onto a site at Thirsk racecourse, which didn’t look promising at first, with it’s view of Tesco and Lidl, however really enjoyed being able to walk to the shops after the struggles to find food we had had in Scotland. While we were there we had a day in York - lovely historic city, modern park and ride with bendy buses! We drove up Sutton Bank (caravans banned from here as a tad steep and bendy) into the North York Moors and enjoyed a great walk - the scenery was somewhat obscured by mist but we’re sure it was great. Next trip was to Middlesbrough to see the transporter bridge (made famous by Alf Weidersan Pet and more recently on the programme ‘coast’). This was truly awesome and well worth a visit, we crossed as foot passengers and then arranged to return to climb over the top - unfortunately this didn’t happen due to exceptionally heavy rain. We ventured on to Whitby and Scarborough - typical seaside towns still quite crowded even
What a superb view!
All the time in Scotland we dreamed of seeing a supermarket - now we have two though it was the beginning of October. As we were staying at Thirsk for ten days we decided to make more beer, all went well until the day we were due to move and had to barrel the beer - you have never seen rain like it, the whole site was flooded and Trev had to wear full waterproof gear - hope it’s worth it!
