i left my home on oct 2. flew from phx to lax to south korea to china. i pretty much slept the entire 13 hours from lax to south korea. asiana is a great airline, very comfortable! i had a few hours to kill in south korea, so i found the smoking room. i think all airports should have a smoking room.
while in the smoking room, i had to find a light for my cig. so i gestured to this asian man for one. he lit my cig, and they proceed to ask if i was italian because my skin is slightly dark. i laughed at told him i was part italian, but i couldn't speak italian. then i noticed a guy speaking english. he was born in hong kong and lives in la. he gave me a list of places to visit and pointers on traveling and living in china. then a professional tennis coach born in manhattan started talking to us. he lives and works in china, so i got some more pointers on what to do here and such. we found our way to the long layover area. in this area you can use free computers with internet, sleep, eat, shower and get massages. hands down this airport is the best i have ever been to. then i took off for china.
the flight was about an hour, but they still did two beverage services and fed us a full meal. i got to china, grabbed my bags and i had no issues going through customs or immigration. dad and his driver picked me up. we stopped by a local mall to grab some items that i needed ie coffee, coffee maker, shampoo, conditioner, ect. we walked around the local square here that had rides, vendors, street food and such. it is right on the ocean and it was a beautiful day out. we stopped by the local market and picked up some food to cook dinner with. now by local market what i actually mean is: hole in the wall, down a dark alley with no sign to be seen. it was awesome, and super cheap! then we went to the apartment for the night. his apartment is amazing. 2 1/2 bathrooms, 2 1/2 rooms, marble accents, wooden floors and even vegas style chandeliers!
day two i slept for about 13 hours. dad was at work so i decided to venture out to the local tea house, right across the street from our apartment. the girls there loved me. they were trying to learn had to speak proper english, so i agreed to help them. they gave me a tour of the private rooms, gave me a bunch of free snacks and i hung out there almost all day. we agreed to meet up later that week for beer, they want to introduce me to their german male friend. that night, i felt bad because i fell asleep before dad even got home. we had been texting all day on my fake iphone, so he knew i was safe. by the way, never buy a fake iphone for $40... i am going to be getting a new phone later...
day three, i slept amazing lastnight. woke up, had coffee on the patio over looking the ocean. later today dad's driver will pick me up to meet dad for korean bbq for dinner. then we will find a phone that actually works!
