Chocolate Canolli's at Midnight

The weekend was very full as I had my all-day program, beginning at 11 a.m. and finishing around 9 p.m. In that course of time, we practiced breathing techniques, sang an old Rogers and Hart song (to be prepared for next class!), engaged in all sorts of movement techniques and relaxation exercises, worked on honing our sense memory tools and even did some improvisation work in groups. Every instructor impresses me with their portfolio but more importantly, with the sense of professionalism and integrity they bring to every class. Their talents are obvious but I am so enthralled by the fact that they treat us with such respect and dignity. No casting couch for me! (at least not yet! 😊

I wandered the village Saturday night and tried out a few bars. I am overwhelmed by New York's committment to "letting go" on the weekend and the streets were flooded everywhere with people who were genuinely out to have fun. The energy was quite intoxicating (as were the three vodka sours I had a bar aptly named, "Pieces"). I love the fact that people are so friendly and wherever I go and that everyone has a "place". Two a.m. and nobody could get a taxi. Imagine a city of this magnitude and no one could get a taxi! I walked home to my humble abode (at least I thought I was walking) and at approximately three a.m. I spied a smorgasbord of pastries in the window of this one store...still opened (does New York close?) and ordered a dark chocolate canolli, the cream spilling out of the edges. I ate it in every lascivious manner possible (could more substantial chocolate canollis be waiting in the wings?) and after smacking my lips at the finish gave the evening a five star rating!
