Well im writing this to all of you guys back at home as we currently are waiting 7 hours for our flight to Chrischurch from Sydney later on today and they had free internet so i thought id take advantage. After Whitsundays it was the next long overnight bus up to Cairns. We had a really funny bus driver the second half of the journey which made it a little more bearable.

Then we arrived at Cairns at 6.30am in the morning to check into our hostel only to find out that we were not allowed to check in till 2pm absolute nightmare!!! So we left out bags there and head off to the lagoon for a relaxing swim which was really nice. Then we took a walk around the city well it called a city but it is never the size of one.

Then after waiting for ages we were pleasently surprised with our hostel when we finally got to check in. The hostel was a few more dollers extra a night to what we had been staying in but we thought we needed some comfatable nights sleep after the previous 2 weeks with lack off sleep!!!! But it was 5 start backpacker accomadation and it lived up to it!!! We got into our rooms and were greeted with the same old bunks but this time they had king size single matresses on and were really comfy!! We had an ensuite bathroom as well and for all those travellers they will know that this is a luxury. It also had a massive tv room on each of the 4 floors with loads of seating and a kitchen on each floor as well. We then later found out that it had a gym as well to my excitement as we had not done much exercise except walking. It also had a big warm pool as well. All in all it pretty much had everything we wanted and was to keep us occupied for the 5 nights we stayed there.

In our time in Cairns there has not been much really to shout about no sunbathing because you will get hit with a tropical rainstrom as soon as you step outside. Never seen so much rain in one place at one time. It was also really humid the whole time which was just horrible really sticky day and night but luckily everywhere has air conditioning otherwise it would be unbearable. Most days were the same get up eat breakfast laze around for a bit go to the gym followed by a very long session in the pool. That was one of my highlights of Cairns the pool at the hostel we made up many a game with the tennis ball and the frisby which led to some entertaining afternoons. Some games left to bruising of te body thats how extreme they were. Anyway thats about all we did apart from stayed up and watch Pompey vs Boro at 2am in the morning.

Then there was my birthday!!!!!!!!!!
In the day we had a snorkling trip planned to the Great Barrier Reef. We woke up and guess what it was raining and really really hard as well we all thought that there was know way that it could go ahead in the weather we were experiencing. We got to the boat and there were a few people on it. I was a bit annoyed because i would have preferred to go on a nicer day. Then we were given our stinger suits and our snorkel gear before we set out to sea. I can safely say it was the worst journey have ever had in my life at sea!!!!!!!! It was so choppy we were bouncing all over the place swaying side to side and i was starting to feel incredibly sick. Even Giles said he felt sick and he never had before in his life!!!! I looked across to my right and saw someone else being sick which didnt make me feel to good but luckily i managed to make it to our destination feeling like crap!!!! Not happy start to my birthday!!! Then we went snorkling to the first set of reef with the water really choppy and weather crap it was a real struggle. The first reef was really dissapointing as well nowhere near as good as the whitsundays reef i previously experienced. Then we got back on the boat had lunch and then moved onto our second snorkel location. Thankfully this location was 10 times what the previous one was. I saw quite a few memo fish which was really gd and the reef as a whole was probablly the best oe that i had seen. Then it was the boat journey back which i lied down on and slept to avoid the sea sickness.

Monday night which was a top night and a veery heavy one until we found out that Pompey had lost and got depressed. At Gilligans the hostel they also had super posh indoor and outdoor bar as well and each Monday night they hold the worlds smallest bungy jump off a ledge in the bar about 4m off the ground and they were also running special offers on the real bunjy jump in cairns. Harry did the small jump and was first out of everyone to take the leap!!! Then we saw a leaflet that said 2 jumps for $99 at the real thing when one jump is normally $125 so i was really tempted by this but also knew i was going to do one in New Zealand thats when Harry generously offered to pay for half of it as my B'day present and i pay the other half so it worked out for me 2 jumps for about 20 english pounds!!!! Bargain!!!! Then we went out for a very interesting niight at the Woolshed in which id heard so many things about. it certainly was interesting and they had loads of games on and a particularly funny boys vs girls game in which the boys won every round. They also had all the live footy in there as well Spurs vs Man u and Chelsea vs Everton which was gd. It ended up being a gd night out!!!

The next morning it was the day of the bungy and i can honestly say i went thoughout the day without feeling any nerves. How things were going to change!!!! It was yet again another awful day raining from the moment we woke up!! I soon found out the guys in our room were doig it at the same time as me which was gd. We lurked around watched some tv and went downstairs at 3 to get picked up by the bungy bus. But it was full so we could not get on that one and had to wait 30-45 min for it to come back and pick us up which just added to the tension. Then it came back and picked us up and we were on our way. The weather was just appauling by now and could bearly see 20m ahead on the road but luckily it was clearing up more and more as we went on and got closer to the jump site. We finally got there after about a 20min journey and that was when i started to get some nerves as i walked out of the bus and closer to the site. Once i got there i was quite shocked how high 46m actually is!!! Its higher than you would think. I got registered singed all the papers and i was ready to go!!! I walked up the big tower of stairs and my legs were starting to get a bit jelly like and stomach was starting to fill with butterflies. Then we got to the top and looked over the edge it was bloody high!!!!!! Ed one of my room mates just could not handle it he said he didnt think he could do it but i managed to persuade him to stay up there and do it which kind of took my mind off the task in hand. Then after about 3 other jumps it was time for me to get ready. First they made me put on a harness and then sit on a little platform where they thoroughly strapped me up!!! Firstly in a towel then with cables and all sorts. Then it was the moment i had been waiting for it was here!!!!! I jumped off the little platform and started hopping towards the edge, at this point i can honestly say i have never been more nervous in my life even my driving test this was worse believe me!!!! I got to the edge and oh my god it was high so very high. He said ' Your going to jump off head first arms spread out and then when you bounce tuck your chin in and arms up and i thought oh as easy as that ey!!! But before i had time to worry about it anymore he was saying 5.....4.....3.....2.....1.....Bungy..............and there i lept off the edge well i would say fell off the ledge i was so nervous and my legs so much like jelly that they just would not let me jump and i ended up looking like a bit of an idiot as i jumped off!!! But ph my god what a thrill it is the most amazing sensation just unbelievable!!! Having the ground hurtle towards you is just amazing something everyone should experience but trust me its not for the light hearted it takes balls!!! After that and bouncing around for a while i had to run straught back up for my second jump as it was near the end of the day. This time i was going for what they call the Physco back dive literally just jumping off it backwards!!! I enjoyed the second jump more becasue i was slightly less nervous but i still believe doing it face forward gives you the ultimate rush it is now my highlight of the trip so far and made me look forward the the collossus tht is Nevis 134m high bungy jump in Queenstown New Zealand!!!

That was bout it for Cairns we said our goodbyes to Giles at 5am this morning before we left for the airport as he has a later flight so he will be back with you guys thursday morning!!!

Overall Australia has been an absolutly amazing a truely enjoyable experience the whole way thorugh. From our first stay in Melbourne with Helen and Tony where we watched the Australian Open and did so many other things around Melbourne to the constant partying in Sydney and the awesome Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb to the relaxing by the beach at the gorgeous Byron Bay. There was also the Waterpark a very memorable day and also finish the trip on such a high with Fraser Island and then the beautiful Whitsunday Islands and then best of all the Bungy Jump. we have all had a wonderful time and i would like to thank Tony and Helen for putting us up for 6 weeks of the trip which probably made it possible that we were able to afford all of the activities at the end. So a big thank you to them.

As for me and Harry by 10pm tonight for us we will starting the next adventure of our trip New Zealand which we are both really looking forward to should be something really different.

Sorry i have no pictures for this blog theres really nothing to see apart from the Bungy Jump and i might put them up later but Harry recoreded it on my camera so you can all see the videos when i get back!!!!
