Bodiam Castle
Had a huge English breakfast. Travelled to Hailsham to visit more Ripleys and came away loaded with family trees. Visited Battle to see the workhouse where great grandmother Alice Ripley and children ended after being deserted by James Loveday. Visited Battle Abbey and saw the site of the Battle of Hastings. John re-enacted the death of King Harrold with an arrow through the eye. Geoff has more grey hairs handling the narrow roads! Went to Bodiam for picnic lunch and saw the castle. Went to Hastings to see a pebble beach and private change huts on the 'beach'. Went to Pevensey Castle - another castle - with Roman walls. Next was Eastbourne - walked the pier and veiwed the gardens. Travelled to Beachy Head to see the White limestone cliffs of the seven sisters - very impressive.

Travelled to Alfriston to view the unique Edwardian extremely narrow main street. Decided to have dinner at the Smugglers Cove Inn. Sat with the publican and got free beers, great service and all the local gossip.

Struggled back to the B & B - exhausted!

The weather so far has been exceptional - blue skies, warm temperatures - just perfect!
