Hi again!
We caught a one hour ferry from Buenos Aires over to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. It´s a relatively small old town with loads of historical sites. So we just spent a couple of days there walking around the cobbled streets checking out all the really nice old buildings and ruins. We had a cool hostel here too (El Viajero). We were a bit luckier with the weather here too. Still no camera at this point so still no photos!
We weren´t too sure where to go next but after a lot of thinking (and lack of options), we got a flight from Montevideo up to Florianopolis in Brazil. Bought a camera in the airport...Yipee!
Floripa is a city which is split into two, with half of it on an island (Santa Catarina Island). We actually stayed in a hostel on the eastern side of the island near a town called Barra de Lagoa. The island is full of amazing beaches and I can safely say that this place would be hopping in the summer time! Unfortunately, we weren´t too lucky with the weather here. We still managed a dip in the sea on our second day
though. That evening we got the guy from the hostel (Junior) to give us a tour of the island. He drove us around for a few hours taking us to places even he had never been before so it was quite interesting! He took us to numerous beaches which you can see some pictures of below. Even though it wasn´t quite beach weather, the beaches still looked awesome.
The hostel we stayed in (Backpackers Sunset) were really helpful and good at organising activities. We had a BBQ and played a PES tournament on the playstation that night! Colette decided to be Irealnd and she let us down by losing to England!!
The following day, it was time to move on. We had a trip to the cinema before catching a 16 hour bus to Iguazu!
Overall, we really liked these 2 towns and would definitely like to come back to Floripa in the busy season where I reckon the place would be buzzing.
