4 weeks to the big trip!

Just 4 weeks to go till me and Daniel set off to Sri Lanka, Malaysia (including Kuala Lumpar and Borneo) and Singapore. I am so excited. There is so much planning involved and I’ve been getting carried away reading travel guides. There is so much information to be found on the internet and in Lonely planet books, I just want to see as much as I can. You can fly really cheaply within Asia so we are taking advantage of that.

So far we have a rough itinery for Sri Lanka, with the first few nights accommodation booked. We originally planned to hire a car out there but after reading about some other travellers’ experiences of driving over there we have decided to go on some guided tours instead! I just hope I don’t get too travel sick!
I’m really looking forward to the complete change of culture and can’t wait to sample some of the local dishes. I’ve bought myself a digital SLR camera for the trip and can’t wait to get snapping! I am really hoping to try some diving in Sri Lanka and Borneo and I think Dan may end up getting me to trek up the highest mountain in South East Asia...we’ll see.

Hope I can cope with the extreme humidity, maybe I should spend my time in the sauna and steam room at the gym to get myself used to it!

looking for help with trip to Sri Lanka
I have been reading your sri lanka travel blog and thoroughly enjoying it! My husband and I are planning a 2 month trip to India and Sri Lanka In Jan. 2011. I was wondering if you have any accommodation recommendations for either Sri Lanka or India. Are there cities or places you think are a must see. We are fairly well traveled and can adapt to all types of accommodation. Sri Lanka reminds me of Myanmar, one of my favorite places, which is also a Buddhist country. We were planning a week in Sri Lanka but after reading your blog maybe 2 weeks would be better. P.S. I hope your string has finally come off and your wishes have come true! Thank you Debbie Breadner
