Hey everyone! Sarah typing here for my first entry; it seems I can't work the touch screen on Ed's ipod but now we are in Koh Samui airport I am using the free PC! First off I want to apologise for any worry we caused when you guys heard about the boat crash at the full moon party - no one where we were staying had even heard about it until you called, but yeah I'll make an effort to keep my phone on and keep you updated.
So the full moon party! Well, what a night you can't actually believe how many people there are on this stretch of beach; mainly westerners with a few thais either on the pulling prowl, trying to get your wallets, or generally ripping you off but we both had such a wicked time. We've made lots of friends from Coco garden and went as a massive group so we were able to all split off; go for a dance, get in a few of the alcohol 'buckets' (i'll explain when home) or go party in the foam. A few people got really sick (most of whom it was alcohol related to) but Ed and I have been fine and managed to stay up until about 8am! Admittedly, we're now shattered as we had to get up early to get a ferry across from Koh Phangan to Samui and then a bus but we're now in the snazzy airport with free pastries and drinks which we are entirely taking advantage of in our classy student manner.
As we're only in Bangkok for a short time, less than 24 hours, we're really going to cram in some shoppnig on Koh Saon Road which should be cool - of course if we hear of any trouble we won't go and will let you know soon as but generally Bangkok has been fine recently. Then to Hanoi! Some of the people we met at Cocos are also on the same flight as us so we'll be seeing them around but it was pretty crazy saying goodbye to everyone else - facebook will be filled with friend requests!
Last night we watched the football at this place called the Food Factory; its basically a crappy fast food bar where all the westerners migrate for any kind of sport and surprisingly, I've almost got in to the football! It was pretty tense in there due to the mix of Germans and the English but it was cool to see the brits shake hands with the celebrating germans - particularly as they deserved it.
Now just a quick summary of what we've squeezed in to our time in Thailand which stands out for me: the elephant trekking, the buddhist temple, dancing in foam on a beach, bumping in to a badly dressed lady boy, befriending more loud Irish men than I care to remember, drinking cocktails by the sea, and only seeing who is dancing around you as the lightning strikes during the tropical storm that even blocks out the full moon.
FINALLY cheers for all the comments guys its great to hear from you. Here are a few back:
Hannah: get out of my wardrobe you sket, how was work experience? when you get back from spain let me know how it was - well at least how much you can remember!
Laura: good luck with the exams! sure you'll ace them as you've been working really hard for ages, America isn't far off now 😊 (I know you've been in my wardrobe too so watch it..)
Caitlin: how are you? everything going ok? should i be informed of any boyfriends (joke!) and how are all the saunders doing too?
Dad: Lee (guy who owns Coco) described you as 'well spoken'. Hope work is less hectic now and we'll let you know when we arrive in Hanoi. 😊
Cannings/Thatchers: Ed's good, don't worry I'm keeping him in check and he sends his love.
Mum: nice to speak to you, you would have loved the cocktails! Hope work isn't too busy and you don't notice the absense of two daughters too heavily over the next week!
Emmy/any other stalking mates: Absolutely fab to hear from you! Good luck with the final push for the exams, I'll be thinking of you and trying to find you something nice - enjoy Malia! PS You'd be so jealous of my tan 😉 All other mates - hope exams are going well and summer is good - can't believe you've had good weather!
