So after that amazing evening chilling with Matty we had an lazy start to the next day and headed out to the Paris Opera House, which dan was really keen to as she likes phantom of the opera so much. Pretty cool that you can go in and explore the building at your own pace, it really is grand.

After that we headed to the Lourve. This was something we really didnt want to miss, with all my trips to Paris I´d still never been there (i know we did in 91, thanks mum and dad). The museum is HUGE! everything you want to see istucked up the back, kind of like the milk in the supermarket, so spent a bit of time getting lost. I really love any chance to see some ancient egyptian stuff so we headed there. Even after being to Egypt and being guided by an egyptologist it still seems so alien to me. Thats what appeals to me I think, you can stare at the inscriptions and heiroglyphics again and again and still pick up little interesting details. Heading to the Mona Lisa as depressing as it guides you through the religious art section, which I´m sure i've seen enough of to last a lifetime, it just all looks so somber and depressing. We enjoyed the massive canvasses in the decorative arts section and some of the Italian sculptures, and thats that story.

After walking back to our hotel the heat had got to dan and She needed to lay down so I went to hang out with matty at a canal near his hostel, a real place for the locals, with no hawkers or scammers in sight it was a lovely afternoon and Dan joined us later on. We just sat and soaked up the afternoon watching people play boules and the boats going up and down the canal, really peaceful.

Once the sun had gone down we jumped on the metro (magnificent trasport, I really cant praise it highly enough) and went to see the lightshow at the Eiffel tower. We got our own little spot on the grass almost directly under it, away from the main lawns which were behind a hedge wall. We just sat and chatted, kicked the soccer ball around for a while (Dan bought me a mini replica of the World Cup ball cause I missed kicking a ball) and enjoyed another night hanging out with matty.

The next day we explored the Catacombes which is a pretty freaky experience. Walking around chambers and passageways deep under Paris that have been filled with exhumed bones from overcrowded cemeteries. If you´re ever in Paris check it out cause its good to do something completely different.

That evening we just watched the sun set over notre dame and said goodbye to matty till aus later in the year.

The time totally flew by in Paris and it really was a special few days. Thanks heaps for coming over matty it meant a lot to us. Its a really hyped up place but lives up to that. No european trip would be complete without it.
