Safe and sound I am here. Everything went really smooth. I arrived at the airport fairly early, thanks again to Pete and his super cool family for the ride to the airport. The flight to Amsterdam was pretty cool with a super new plane and features like my own private movie theatre. I also lucked out because right away where I was sitting, the girl next to me asked if I could trade with her parents, and I was like, sure, because it gave me a window seat. Well it turned out no one came to sit by my so I had the row to myself the whole way. Made stretching out and being more coze a whole lot easier. Amsterdam was sweet, we had a layover for about 4 hours. I found a place to recharge my phone after walking all over the airport. The rapid changes in altitude from the plane was reeking havoc on my sinuses though. 😞

We then prepared to board our flight to Moscow. They made me check my bag though, saying it was too heavy for carry-on, fine whatever. I slept a bit on that flight, the cool part however was getting a good look at Holland as we were flying out, talk about some amazing country-side.

We landed in Moscow a few hours later, stood in line for about an hour to have our passports processed, and then got our luggage, met our Liaison from the Moscow Art School, Anastasia, then boarded our bus for the ride in to Moscow, on which I slept.

After we got settled in a bit, JT, our professor, took us to show us where the two markets are and we bought a few supplies at the last one. It was very interesting trying to find the things I wanted with everything being in Russian and being packaged just a little bit different. I spent 795 roubles which works out to about 23$. Pretty cool. Then I came home and unpacked, then hopped on the computer and finished buying my airline tickets for my two weeks of backpacking. Such a relief to have that done.

I have taken a few pictures of my room and the dorm we are staying at so enjoy. I am exhausted and will be calling it a night.

You're in Safiya's room, and you're totally on the better side of the hallway. I am incredibly jealous you're there right now. Have a blast with your first day of classes. I hope it kicks your ass and tell everyone I say hello.
