Rainy Days and Flat Tires

We left Spokane in drizzle, but at least we got the camper down before the rain started. Bob had an electrical problem with their camper, but managed a temporary fix. We then drove basically west to the Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River. The dam is 550’ high and nearly a mile long, with 3 power generating stations. Pretty impressive dam and a very informative visitor center.

We then drove a scenic byway to Omak, but it was so rainy that there wasn’t much scenic to be seen, a pity. At Omak we decided to have pizza for lunch and enjoyed a leisurely meal and jovial companionship. As we were leaving the Pizza Hut, I noticed a tire on the camper was low, so Kerry drove to a nearby gas station and put air in it. Probably a poor choice, since it went totally flat just before we got to Tonasket. Of course it was pouring rain, and of course there was mud everywhere. Kerry and I both were soaked, even though I tried to keep the rain off us both with an umbrella. After changing the tire, we headed on up to the Canadian border and went through

customs, our first time.

In Canada, even though the border guard told us it doesn’t rain in Canada, it was still raining steadily, effectively blurring any pictures I could take. We drove as far as Penticton, and as I was checking us into a campground, Kerry came in to say the other tire on the trailer was going flat. Really now! Two flats in one rainy day? Then we got to set up the camper in the rain, then tromp back and forth to the laundry in the rain. What a day!
