This morning I was pleased to discover that the twoonie sized mosquito bite from last night had apparently disappeared while I was sleeping. Thank you Afterbite! Jim and I got up pretty early (for us haha!) and stopped in at a really nice pastry shop called Lulu's for breakfast. It seemed like they had every flavour of bread imaginable. I got their maple walnut bun and Jim tried the coconut - both were delicious! I think we'll be going back there for breakkie tomorrow too!
We'd planned to visit the GEO National Park in Yehliu today. It's a bit outside of Taipei, about 1.5 hours or so by bus. It was interesting trying to figure out where to catch the bus and how to take it to where we were going but we managed no problem. Talk about a crazy bus ride though! This guy was taking hairpin turns at 90 km/h or at least that's how it felt to us sitting in the back.
An hour and a half later we found ourselves in the small seaside village of Yehliu. GEO National Park is famous for having this rock that's shaped like a queen's head. People line up
Temple
The temples here are all really brightly painted in these vibrant colours to take pictures with it and stuff. If you've ever seen that headshot of Nefertiti it looks kind of like that.
There are a ton of other rock formations there that've been formed by the tide. It was pretty cool and the ocean views were amazing! Thank god for the wind though because it was 30 degrees today and humid. The wind really helped break it up. We went for a nice long hike to the very top lookout point and made sure to take a picture. God we were tired by the end and Jim got sunburned - poor guy.
We were pretty tired by the time we'd explored the whole park so we decided to head back to Taipei and get some dinner. We found a quaint place near the main station called Dantes and got ourselves a couple of nice sandwiches and a delicious green tea. I've never had a green tea taste that good. It was just what I needed to cool me off.
Tonight we took a bit of a tour around the Shilin night market. The note the waitress gave us yesterday helped a lot and the bus driver told us
right where to get off. It was pretty neat walking around and seeing all the different vendor stalls and stuff. I got a cute pair of sneakers for less than $10 and we picked up some delicious eats. So far the food here has been really great! I wish I knew what some of the things we've been eating are called.
Tomorrow it's off to the Zoo to see the pandas and ride the gondola!

The photos are so beautiful! I want to ride on a bullet train and go to the night market.
