Goodbye Jambeli

So today we're moving on from the animal rescue farm in Jambeli...
and to be honest we're not sure where we're actually going to be sleeping tonight! It's an exilarating feeling not knowing where the next 10 days will take us. All we know is that we have to be back in Quito on the 29th ready to start our tour on the 30th.
But until then we're completely on our own...

The lady who works at the farm said she would be travelling back to Guayaquil today so offered us a lift with her - she also invited us to come with her to another animal project in Guayaquil that they are also involved in. So that's where we're heading later.

It's strange to think that we're leaving this place - it's the only place in the entire trip that we'll stay in for this long. And even this has felt like no time at all. We've got into a routine here...and that's all about to end. We'll be uprooted and thrust headfirst into the next leg of our journey. It's thrilling and exciting but it's also quite sad. Jambeli has been such a unique experience and there's so many quirky day-to-day happenings that I will greatly miss....
The lovely lady who cooks for us, who makes fresh juice every single day. My favourite has been the lemonade which is literally to die for. It might even overtake my obsession for 'strawberry fair lemonade'...those who know what I'm talking about...it's actually that good!
The little man with the funny laugh who we work with. Who i don't think can say our names properly so just calls us 'chica tequila'...
Yolanda and Tomas the monkeys...the two cheekiest of the lot!
The blue and green bird in the last cage that lands on my head everytime I go to change their food. Who eats nuts on my head and pecks at my hair.
The fact that at any moment a giant cockroach or a snake could fall from nowhere onto your head! (True stories...)
The frail groundskeeper who you see walking around humming while carrying 10 chairs at once!
The little girl who thinks Jo is her mother...!
The thousands of absolutely beautiful butterflies that flitter past your head all day long that have become almost natural to us - yet if you take the time to look at them properly you still notice how breathtaking they are.

Sorry if this seems like rambling. These are just some of the little things I didn't want to forget 😊
Once again, I promise the next blog will have more structure!
