My room has a small balcony that allows me to get some fresh air when the apartment gets hot and stuffy
As, I hope, Most of you know, I am currently staying in the city of Rosario, Provence of Santa Fe, Argentina. Though in past posts, I have not expanded on the subject of "where I'm actually staying", so here goes.
I am currently residing in an apartment building in the central northern part of Rosario along a street called Salta. I am only a few short blocks away from the Rio Parana, though there's no real walkway there for me to walk next to the river anyway, so having this geographical feature near my home doesn't really make much of an impact on me. The room I am currently staying in is quite small. There is enough room for a bed, chair, television, and dresser, but thats about it. Luckily I didn't bring anything much down here with me so space is never really much of a problem. The rest of the apartment shares the same story as my room, small. There is a kitchen, living/dining area, two bedrooms and a bathroom.
The kitchen is easily the smallest room in the house. There is barely enough room for one person to navigate there way in it, let alone two. Luckily, the only time I've cooked anything in there was when my host-mother was not home and therefore we didn't get in each others way.
The dining/living room is basically just a room with a table, chairs and a sofa. On the ground anyway, looking at the walls, there are decorations aplenty including mirrors, a couple pictures as well as a silver plate with "the final supper" depicted on it.
Move down to the end of the hallway, past the two identical bedrooms, we find the first part of the bathroom. This room only has a mirror and sink, plus a door separating the toilet, bidet, and shower allowing for a person to use the sink without intruding upon another who might be using the shower. There are only two interesting things about this bathroom. One would be the bidet, not so interesting if you're not from North America... And the size of the shower. It's not one of those normal buy it and install it showers, its made of brick and tile and is surprisingly big. I have no doubts that you could fit 5 people in there, not that one would ever want to...
As for the location in comparison to the school, its about a 10 to 12 block trek to get to school from the apartment depending on which streets you take. Not that bad of a walk to wake you up in the morning, though having to dodge the endless amounts of garbage and dog waste forces one to wake up in the morning and walk carefully.
Now on to my host mother. She's a very nice, older lady. Sadly we don't get to talk much as I spend much of my time at school and when I get back around 7 or 8, she's usually already in bed. Though, in the time that we have been able to talk, I learned that she used to own a business with her husband and they made a, what she called reasonable, amount of pay. What reasonable is I don't know, don't ask... After her husband passed away, she sold the business and moved into the apartment that I am in now. She spends her days running around with her friends and from what I can tell, stays extremely active. She exercises every day as well as goes to the pool with her friends on a regular basis. She has a son who lives nearby who I've been able to meet, as well as a daughter who lives in Portugal, who I was also able to meet before she returned home.
It's been an o.k. experience so far, but I'm enjoying the parts of the program I like and trying to make better the parts that I don't. Also, it helps when you have an ice cream shop directly across the street from you.

Soludos de Rosario!
