So yeterday I had a 6 hour bus ride to Cairns where Dave picked me up and took me to my new home for the next 4 days .....Chez Richardson 😊 I arrived to see the most magnificent house in luscious tropical surrondngs - and there she was Julie !!! on the varanda awaiting my arrival ..... "I called Hi honey I'm home" rushed upstairs and had 6 years worth of hugs !!!!

I felt at hime straight away, cool drink on the balcony, feet up and chatter chatter chatter ..... then i was shown to my room, and I had the luxury of a double bed in a room all to myself, with space, beautiful surroundings, and a comfy mattress ... PLUS my own luxurious bathroom. Bliss, total bliss.

Thai green curry for tea (or dinner should i say) lovely, nice cuppa and more chatter. Off to bed at about 11.30pm which is 2 hours late for Julie so i felt truly honoured. Slept like a baby zzzzzzzzzzzzz

I woke at about 6am, up at 6.20am made a cuppa for myself and Julie (I knew she'd be up by 6.30) and we drank it on the varanda, then it was a stroll along Oak beach which is 5 min car ride away. The sand is golden in colour and streches for miles but the creek is still very swollen after all the heavy rain for the last 14 days, so we only did a small walk. On the way back we met Veronica one of Julies friends, so had a chat to her, and should meet her again tomorrow as Julie is having a girlie lunch for me tomorrow. (She's obviously not ashamed of me after all).

Back to the house for a swim in the pool (knickers only!!!) .... lovely and warm and it was still only 8.10am !!! breakfast of orang juice, boiled egg and soldiers, how spoilt am I !!!

It was sunny then rainy then showery then sunny again, so we spent a couple of hours chillin on the varanda. Then it was time go-a-sightseeing. First up was along the Captain Cook highway to Mossman Gorge, which was very swollen still from all the rain. Very spectac ular views, white water rapids and an idiot swimming in it !!!! Then it started to rain .... well I was in the rain forrest so it was to be expected !!! Julie wasnt impressed !!!

Then we travelled up to Daintree River and along the way we stopped to talk to one of Julies patients - a 76 year old Aborigine guy who obviously loved her ... well who wouldnt. Then we arrived at the river there was a boat leaving to look for crocks but Julie said they wouldnt be arrond as the water was too deep, Always ask a local they know the score.

Lunch time ..... a crocadile burger for me, if i cant see 'em, eat 'em I say!!!

Port Douglas was our next stop where I bought a couple of things as souvenires, a small aborigine dot painting and a painted stone. Last but not least was a quick visit to Four mile beach, which is yes youve guessed 4 miles long, has a paddle, photo then home.

We decided to call work and guess who answered ...... my best friend Marilyn ..... ah how lovely. We were talking for about 30 mins to Marilyn, Katie and Sue and it was lovely to hear theyre voices. SO Ive just had my home made pizza and we're watching American Pop Idol, and Daave is soooo funny, he is really into it and gives a running commentary through it, he recons Simon Cowel calls him during the break to ask his opinion.

Bye for now ......................xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I'm soooooo envious
Yoo Hoo Karen - Deb W put me onto your blog - you lucky thing !! I am seriously envious sitting here in me woolly socks next to the fire? Sounds like you are doing this in true Karen style - free spirited as always. How's the back pack - did it survive ? My Jack is travelling at the moment - Aimee spent 2 weeks with him in Thailand and came home yesterday [very reluctantly]. He travels onwards through Asia and will then go on to Oz - so look out for him - tall and handsome like his Dad !! Any way - say Hi To Julie and I will tune in again. Take Care Mary xx
