CLIMBING MOUNTAINS IN PAKISTAN

The best-known attraction for the Mountaineers is the North of Pakistan. Northern part is in knot of four great mountain ranges, Himalayas, Karakoram, Hindu-kush and Pamir with densest concentration of high peaks on earth, including the second highest peak, K-2 (8611m). Radiating out to the border if marked by the Ishkoman and Karumber River in Gilgit District, the eastern end of range known HINDU RAJ, means “Hindu Rule.” Following north from there the Pamir runs up into the former Soviet Union. Spreading from center to northeast along the border with China lies the KARAKORUM, the main block of the mountain in Pakistan, 250 Kilometer wide. In the south corner separated by the Indus River, where lies the western Himalayan Range and Nanga Parbt 8125m is the western end pillar of this range. The most famous among these are K-2 (8611m), second only to the Everest, Nanga Parbat (8125m), the most dangerous peak and have the reputation of “KILLER MOUNTAIN” the Hidden peak (8068m), the Broad peak (8047m) and the Gasherbrum-11 (8035m) and highest cliff wall of the world, the “TRANGO TOWER GROUP”.

The mountain wealth makes the Pakistan an important mountain country and gives opportunities to the climbers, trekkers, nature seekers and related mountain adventure activities. The compelling charms of these high, challenging endless sea of rugged and ice pinnacles lure large number of mountaineers and nature lovers from across the continents to Northern Pakistan each year. Northern part of Pakistan, which is endowed with most unique geographical features in the world, here three greatest, lofty and spectacular mountain ranges, Karakoram, Himalayas and Hindu-Kush. In an area about 500Kms in width and 350Kms in depth, is found the densest collection of some of the highest and precipitous peaks in the world, boasting more than 160 peaks above 7000M.

CLIMBING BELOW 6500M PEAKS
As the Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Tourism made open (free) to climb the peaks up to 6500m without climbing permit (without royalty of peak ) for also 2009 in order to promote the trekking and mountaineering in Pakistan. Pamir in the trekking routes. These peaks are called trekking peaks and open to climb, for which royalty, climbing permit, liaison officer and other government formalities are NOT required. If the peak is situated in the restricted area then you need the trekking permit from the Ministry of Tourism through a Government licensed agency with paying fee, which is 50 US dollar per person. It is also requires to hire licensed guide, buy a personal accident insurance policy also for porters and cook, will attend the mandatory briefing and de-briefing at the Ministry of Tourism.

There are a lot of such peaks, which are still unclimbed and nameless, some are technically difficult too. “North Pakistan Adventure” is pleased to propose you the climbing expeditions on below 6500m peaks in various regions of the trekking routes. In Shimshal Valley, Pir Peak 6363m, Chkorin Sar 6500m, Mingilk Sar 6050m, Sonia Peak 6300m, Adver Sar 6400m, and etc. In Hunza Valley, Hunza Peak 6270m, Bomulimoting 6000m, Koksil Peak 6483m, Sakar Sar 6272m, and many more.
