Hey all, well.... its been a crazy couple of days, between getting off the plane, finding my hostel and sitting here at the cybrecafe down the road there has been many a confusing-exciting times. I´ll fill you all in on a few of the more remarkable events.
day 1: once I´d settled into my first hostel "La casa roja" it was time for a feed. I found this funky little querky cafe, it was awesome, thousands of little bits and pieces of trash and treasure everywhere (no two things the same) and a very small place i.e. about 6 mini tables. So these cops turn up, one parks his horse out the front comes in and gets into a heated discussion with the owner, ten minutes later when i´d finished my empaladas(?) and my litre bottle of Escudo/local beer (they only sell it by the litre) the owner is being dragged out kicking and screaming, 3 cops now pinning him to the pavement, his employees didn´t seem too fussed, maybe he didn´t pay them enough?
Well it was an interesting first night in Santiago
(insert imagination here - Me standing on Cerra Santa Lucia, looking out over Santiago with the Andes in the backgroud) i´ll post the real thing later
ok
Day 2: A few of us from the Hostel went out to Barrio Bellavista, the most happening part of town (apparently) it was pretty dull, but thats what you get on a tuesday night i guess? We sparked up a conversation with this guy Ar--Tu or Arturo, crazy chilan dj who just starts breaking out with rhymes here and there! We even had a duet going for a bit, No fronteres/no boarders
Later on we went and sat out the front of some nobel prize winners house and checked out this old castle which turned out to be more like a rubbish tip, yuck! In spite of the rubbish It was a great introduction to the the People of Santiago.
Well thats it for now folks, I´m leaving Santiago for now, tommorw is a big blank page and i plan on scribbling all over it,
Adios mi amigos y familia
