Tuesday was my roommate Alli´s 19th birthday and Marianna planned a surprise party in a local dico. The six of us (Me, Alli, Chrissy, Javier, Jose and Sebastian) danced to salsa, merengue, and reggaeton for hours. Reggaeton is definitely my favorite for dancing.

The next night, Alli and I were ready for something more relaxing, so we went to the movies at the Cinemark multiplex. There are a bunch of restaraunts in with the movie theater, so we grabbed sushi before the show ( a welcome treat). At the theater, we decided split one of the combos (cokes, popcorn, candy, etc.) but our order got lost in translation and they started making us five number 5 combos instead of just one, so ten sodas. five popcorns and ten candy bars for the two of us. I caught the mistake when I saw the second popcorn, so they just laughed at us.
The movie was in English (spanish subtitles) and it was a nice change to understand everything perfectly for two hours.

Friday night, Marianna took us to a fundraiser at a disco with her friends, but after a couple hours, Alli and I lef to head over to No Bar (lots of fun) and then met Michael (Marianna{s son)at the Habana Club (where he works) before heading to Down Town for mre dancing. While we were there, Michael asked his boss to give us waitressing jobs and we were told to come back Saturday for our first day of work.

Habana Club is in the Amazonas district (also known as Gringolandia) where most tourists go to eat, check their email, and go out dancing. We went there ready to work last night, but left before the first customers arrived because we were told we´d have to work every Thursday, Friday and Saturdy night. There are too many areas I want to see aound Quito on the weekends, so it looks like I´ll remain unemployed.

The orphanage was really hectic this week because a lot of the staff has been sick and I{ve pretty much been babysitting the kids and they´ve had a lot of games and gym classes (which left me very sunburned). A great time for them, though. My time is split between two classes of 8 and really starting to getting to know those 16 kids as individuals.

Hey, Jes, great to hear about all your partying and fun and "Woohoo!!! Salsa dancing!", but what about all the kids you're supposed to be trying to save? C'mon. And work on your typing: we didn't send you to college for nothing, ya know. love, your brother. - James
