We' d been seperated from our new Spanish mates, Elena and Alejo whilst they went off to El Chalten but were reunited a few days later in El Calafate airport so we could all fly to Bariloche. This time the plane was a bit bigger and it turned out to be quite a relaxing flight!
The town is surrounded by a massive lake, pine forest and snow peaked mountains so it feels like you re in the Alps. Even the houses have a Swiss feel to them - they look a bit like log cabins. It´s a much bigger place than the last couple of places we´ve been, and it´s full of tourists. They have skiing in the winter and all sorts of activities in the summer so they´re busy all year. They´ve also got a nice bit of nightlife here which we tested out a couple of times.
The scenery is stunnig, and we managed to do some kayaking and hiking about so we could see plenty of it. Kayaking was a good laugh, bit of an endurance challenge rowing into the wind on the way back though. They took some photos from another kayak and there´s a
lot of strained looking faces! They even caught me having a rest and letting Sarah push on with the team effort which was good of them.
We also got a cable car up to the top of a big hill and hiked round for a couple of hours. Some pretty amazing views of the town and some of the lakes, was a good day out - our first proper bit of hiking. We´re off to El Bolson tomorrow, where the hiking goes up a noch, so we´ll see how that all pans out.

Never a dull moment
You two are making everyone envious. Even Julie has expressed a desire to go traveling now. We can't wait for the Peru trip. I hope it's as interesting as your Argentinian adventure has been. How's the hiking going Sarah? This trip will certainly make you fit! mum and dad xx
