Got lots on our list done today. Cause we got stuck shopping yesterday we didnt have time for Statue of Liberty so that was the first thing on the to do list today. Got up early and had breakfast on the run and went down to the subway. Caught the train down to battery park to catch the ferry to statue of liberty.

Walking through battery park were heaps of squirrels. Some random man called me over to feed them, so I sat down and he gave me some nuts and they came running from everywhere. So cute, gave the guy a $1. After going through about 500 security checks we got on the boat and onto the island. After checking the bag in and after one more security check (with air pumped on us) we walked into the statue and started going up the steps. 200 odd steps later we got to the very bottom of the statue. (we still had our layers on and got a bit sweaty- dunno how the fat americans would go going up the steps. We were the first ones there so we didnt get stuck behind anyone!). So after looking up the middle of the statue we went outside and walked around it. It was very close and very cool. Again we were on our own so that was weird. We were concious of time so after taking some pics headed back to the boat to ellis island. We didnt really care bout ellis island so we skipped it and just went back to manhatten island.

We then got on the sub back up to our local station- Madison Square Garden. We went into the arena to get on a backstage tour of it and missed it by 5 mins. The next one was like an hour away. I battered my eyelids and got us on the one that left 5 mins earlier. We were escourted to where the tour was at. (after a security check of course). It was a nice stadium and I asked alot of questions. Only holds 20,000. We went to the New York Knicks chnageroom which is the NBL team and the New York Rangers changeroom which is the hockey team. The bball teams door were extra high and the hockey team extra wide. The locker rooms were tiny compared to those we've seen at MCG and Telstra Dome. Benn was pretty excited in the rooms checking out the medical supplies.

After this tour we walked down to the rockafellar center and went to the top of the rock, which is another lookout. It was nice looking out over central park amongst all the buildings and the empire state building.

We then walked to 5th Ave to catch our 'Sex and the City' tour. Benn was real excited. So we jumped on a bus with 40 odd other crazy young american ladies. They were all dressed up and me and Benn were in our hoodies! Only 4 boys! I really enjoyed it cause they showed you the scene on the TV and then pointed out where it was shot. The tour also took us into Greenwich village which we hadnt been yet which was good. Stopped off for a token cupcake (the mangnolia bakery was actually closed for construction) and then stopped off for a cosmopolitian at a bar they use in the show (Benn had a Bud). The tour went for 3 hours.

After this we walked back to times square to Titanic exhibtion which was cool as it had all the artefacts they pulled out of the ocean and who they belonged to or some of the cutlery etc from the actual ship. Agaian it was very sad. There was 2200 passengers and only 700 were saved on the boats (which were only half full). we all know the story as we've seen the movie.

Okay so we then ducked home to get chnaged into some more pretty clothes (we have just been wearing jeans, hoodie and jacket). Its Saturday night here so we were like lets head out. So we caught the sub down to Greenwich Village where we were earlier on the Sex in the City tour. We went out for mexican at a restaurant we saw which was 'world famous'. Had nice frozen margaritas there. After this we went looking for a celebrity hot spot i'd read from an article id saved from the Herald Sun travel section (50 things to do in New York- which we are slowly working through). So we walked down to the Waverly Inn (Bank St) and it was like hidden, you wouldnt even know it was there. No lights or windows just a small sign. Benns like its shut and im like ill try the door. Opened it up and there is a guy there in a suit and bow tie at the door. Im like can we come in for dessert??? So they let us in!!! So we were sat down and as we walked my eyes were working overtime looking for people. The waiter guy was cool, we told him we were aussies and were told to come here. We ordered dessert and he came back for a chat. Im like soooooooooooo do you know where we can go to see celebs and winked at him. Hes like yep right here. Im like where??? He's like cant say. So he gave us two bars to go check out after we had finished. He walked away and i looked at him and he was like nodded his head towards a table that was 2 up. We didnt recognise anyone and then they left. hes like that was Anne Hersh. Im like okayyyyyyyy then. (i googled her when we got home and she is relatively famous- she went out with Ellen Degenorous before Portia and has been a few popular movies). So after a brief stop in the 'restroom' and another quick glance we left. So we walked round trying to find these places he recommended and couldnt find them. We were close to Perry St where Carrie lived in Sex and City. We didnt visit this site in the tour so we walked down and found it. Continued to walk the hip spots of the town and had our eyes peeled on anyone who looked exciting. Plenty of limos around! So we went to another celeb bar Mercury Lounge which was in Soho??? We got there and the band had finished and we couldnt be bothered and left. Apperntly Coyote ugly was around the corner so we walked some more and found it. Its the original bar that the movie was based on and a set was built to replicate it for the film in LA. So we went in and funnily enough the barmaids were dancing on the bar! Benn had a corona and we took some pics and left. At this stage it was nearlly 2am so we hailed a cab (first cab experince of NY) and before we had a chnace to pull our arm down, one had already pulled over. It was a $10 cab ride home which was nice (prob $20 to $30 back home). So at 2am we got home and went to bed!

Not sure whats happened with the photos here as the captions are mixed up and there are more down below under this text and comment area and there is a 2nd page as well.
