Got up at about 8am and headed down for the included breakfast which was crap! Dont like the american way with melted orange cheese in the eggs and sickly sweet muffins and buns. Not happy there isnt any hot choclate either! So after winging about breakfast we layered up and headed into Times Square. After convincing Benn we were in Times Scare we found Planet Hollywood and picked up our New York pass and hop on/hop off bus pass. We have the bus pass for 3 days and the NY pass (entry into 50 attractions) for a week. So we jumped on the bus and straight up the top (its covered) and we were the only ones. We were then joined by a couple more and we were off on a downtown tour. As we went along the lady told us about the history and exciting stuff. Went through Broadway and past Macy's, then to Empire State building, Flatiron district, Greenwich Village, Soho, Chinatown past the site of World Trade Centre. At this stage we were still on the bus and decided to get out to s)ue have a look. Saw the bull in wall street (apperntly its famous) and saw
the State of Liberty from afar. Briefly walked round and bought a couple of beanies and some gloves (2 for $5!) then jumped back on another hopon/hopoff bus tour to Brooklyn. Our tour guide was extremly passionate our his town and got really excited (us however were not very excited!). So we crossed over the Manhatten Bridge and drove round for an hour or so. I had stolen the blanket from our flight (much to Benns discust) and was very thankfull I bought it with me to wrap round me while on the bus. So we went pass a zoo, some garden, something else and then ended up at Juniors (some cheesecake shop) and then shared a steak burger for lunch with a free cheesecake (part of NY pass). So then Benn decided to use another thing on the NY pass- the brewery. So we walked for like half an hour not knowing where we were going and then I'm like call them and they were closed!!!! So we back tracked and went looking for the Transit Muesum (again free ticket with pass) and again took forever to find (Dad- your GPS with US maps would have come in handy
here- we should have done that u turn on the freeway and went back to get them!). We got there and the guys like we close in half hour and we are like its okay we werernt expecting to be there for that long! After a lap and a few token photos we were out in about 5! So again found our way back to Brooklyn bridge and walked over. The views of Manhatten were spectacular. Jumped back on the original hopon/hopoff back to Times Square. It was getting dark and the city started to light up. I fell asleep on the bus. We were dropped off at Rockefellar Centre and walked past the ice skating place and Top of the Rock. Went inot the NBC store. Walked upto Times Square which was nice at night all lit up. Had a look in m&m world and a few other places. Contemplated going to the movies on the way home, and looked at cheap tickets for broadway, Benn was keen for a college basketball game. But we thought we would go home and study up for tomorrow and rest of week. Went back to the hotel came in, got changed. Headed
back out to find Hells Kitchen which we were told to go to eat. Walked to about 41st on 9th Ave (we are staying off 7th) and found an italian restaurent which was nice. Then headed back into Times Square and had a look at more shops. Came back via a conviance shop and bought so hot choclate powder and then used the hot water and milk to make hot choclates. Best idea ever!!!! I think we will be having a few of these over the days. So its 12am and Im here writing this blog while Benn has fallen asleep watching tv. So Im signing off, tomorrow we are doing the uptown tour to Central Park and stuff so looking foward to it.
