So sorry everyone I have much catching up to do 😊

The journey to Koh Lanta ended up being quite taxing as both Sarah and I were nursing ourselves back to health after the events of the night before. So the serval hour hot boat ride wasn't helping. Once we arrived at the dock we decided to splurge and treat ourselves to a private bungalow with a pool are, and the whole journey suddendly seemed worth while!! Perfect place to rest us up for the new years celebration we had a head of us, with a resturant/bar that had every song imaginable on their i pod and left it up to the customers to chose and connect four and jenga on all the tables. So after a solid three days of lounging about the pool and barely leaving the resort it was time to move on, and start our journey east to Koh Phangan. So we were off to Trang another place I never had been, just to break the journey up for one night.

Once arriving in Trang we were swooped up with promises of accomodation for about 2 bucks each, immeditatly I thought "okay this is either going to be terrible or just no one comes here." We soon found out it was the latter. We settled in with our very basic room then decided to take a gander about the town. When every second person was staring at us or actually saying "hi" to us without trying to sell us anything I knew we were the "farang" the forgieners, but not in a bad way at all, actually it was surprising how many people just wanted to meet us. After our gander, I was still thinking well, maybe we are just in the proper Thai part of town so we decided to make or way to this night market the lady at the guest house was raving about, firguring this if anywhere is where we sould see more tourists. Again apparently not, as we saw one other family but it was an amazing experience going to a proper Thai night market. Managed to snag myself a couple for shirts for 5 bucks and tasted the best corn in the world. All in all a great night complete with a group of Thais calling Sarah and I over and sharing their Thai rice Whisky with us!

Next morning we were off again to Koh Phangan imfamous for it's crazy full moon parties. Feeling like a sheep being herded on the ferry you could tell already what we were in store for by the rowdy groups of people boarding the boat. Once arrived and settling in at our hostel super close to the beach, both of us felt rather haggered and were looking forward to some dinner and a good nights sleep. It wasn't till about 8 pm when the music started that we realized we were litterly right beside the busiest bar (by far) on the whole beach, actually scratch that the whole island!!! Which worked out we So first night there end up being pretty crazy, so we had a small idea of what New Years the Blue moon would be like. Whole next day we beached a bit but mostly tried just to rest up for the next which turned out to be obscene!!! Over 30000 people partying on the beach with the DJ's not stopping till 3pm at which point there is still an after party!!! It was a great new years!! I do have to say I feel extreamely bad for the state the beach was in the next day, bottles, straws and empty buckets everywhere not to mention the amount of people who seemed to feel the beach was a suitable sleeping place. After one more night at this crazy place it was time to pull ourselves away so we could get some sleep. I am happy to report both of us escape with only minor scrapes and bruises. After another night on this crazy island, we both knew that is we wanted get any sleep it was time to move on.

We book a night boat and bus to Krabi, thinking we were saving money on accomodation this way. After the taxi that was supossed to pick us up forgot us, and we had to go in a different taxi (bless the Thai lady who asked us "why wait sooo long?" and took it upon herself to call the company for us and find out where they were. So we were one of the last groups to arrive at the pier, only to find out it is a first come first serve deal, and since we were late we woud have no beds. Plastering a smile on my face, we board to boat to try and find a corner or soemthing to curl up in for the 8 hour voyage. All the corners were taken so we resorted to the pathways, resourcefully using life jackets as pillows. Maybe it was the lack of sleep, but it seemed to work a charm as both of us managed to sleep through the night. Once at the pier we still had a three hour bus ride to look forward to. After the shuttled us all to a grundgy resturant with cockroaches the size of limes and birds flying about. Our bus end up never showing and they had to move us to a new location to catch a different bus. The whole time Sarah was looking a little shell shocked, but I kept assuring her this was perfectly normal for South East Asia, and that really we had just been lucky that the other buses had been on time. Once in Krabi we settled on some bungalows by a beach and out of town for some relaxation.

Happy New Year
It does sound like you are "gathering experiences".... good for you. I've never been to that part of the world, but I know people say it is lovely. (I had a rotten holiday season..... food poisoning, hospital with IV's, came home to find house flooded from broken pipe, after 3 weeks, still waiting to get new floors. Chaos!) The weather here is mild and wet and people are worried about snow for the Olympics. Also, earthquake in Haiti, which you probably know about. Anyway, keep on truckin'... Love, Audrey.
