Hey everyone,

My emails are not really that exciting yet. I am still in training, and will be for another 5 weeks. Right now I am doing Safety and Emergency Procedures Training and First Aid. We are learning Types of Aircrafts, Emergency Equipment, Aircraft Systems, Anticipated and Unanticipated Emergencies, Decompression, Fire, Survival after an emergency evacuation, Turbulence, Basic Aeronautics, Ditching, CPR, delivering babies and defibulator.
This week we had to use the Halon Fire Extinguisher to put out a fire. We also had to do a ditching drill where we had to use jump out the door of the aircraft, slide down the slide raft and go into the water in all our clothes. They made us go in fully clothed I suppose to make the drill seem realistic.
I have met some really awesome people here, we are all getting along great. For Christmas dinner, we had a potluck at one of the girls houses, and we were to bring something from our own country, I made a salmon. After the dinner we had a few drinks, and proceeded to the clubs, since this was the last time we would be able to go out.
For new years we went to a bar called Barasti, their was about 150 cabin crew, we had a great time. Our training is very intense from here on until we finish- in 5 weeks. Starting Sunday, we have an exam every day until Thursday. If you fail to get 80% on every exam, you repeat the week of training, redo the exams, and then you must get 85% on every exam.
For the fun stuff…Ummm, I went to the Gold and Spice Souk (Markets) last weekend and walked around, Its about the only little bit of old Dubai left here, and I’m sure it wont be their for long.
My friend Jackie and I went to the Burj-Al-Arab hotel, we tried to sneak past security but we got caught. You have to make a reservation at the restaurant just to get into the hotel. A can of Pepsi in the hotel is $26 US, so I have been told. I think I’m going to pass on seeing the inside of the Burj-Al-Arab.
Tonight is the opening of the Burj Dubai, the tallest building in the world owned by Armani. We might go to the grand opening of it, I hear they are having a pretty amazing fireworks show. Anyways everybody, talk to you soon!

Happy New Year!

Stephanie
