Our 1st Thanksgiving not in the USA. This week was quite different since we had to work on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. I taught the kids about some Thanksgiving history, traditional food eaten on Thanksgiving, my 3 favorite dishes, 5 things I was thankful for and they had to share 5 things they were thankful for.

Here are some of the things my students are thankful for:
Me for teaching them English, Parents and family, Teachers, Classmates, computer, bed, and China.

Do you think students in the USA are thankful for Teachers?

I have been away from my family on Thanksgiving for 7 years and Pete was able to celebrate with a few siblings the last few years in San Diego, but we had never celebrated in another country.

On Friday afternoon, Pete and I took the bus to Yantian to Kris and Kelly's apartment. They hosted a Thanksgiving day feast for 5 of us couples. Kris ventured to Futian to pick up the turkey. Kelly and Kris made stuffing balls, Jack Daniel's sweet potatoes, corn, mashed potatoes, cookies and puppy chow. Cali and Jimmy made home made banana bread, stuffing, gravy, apple pie and pumpkin

it is about the only wine that doesn't cost and arm and a leg in China
pie. We had brought our toaster oven to help cook the food, baked beans, cream style corn, tortilla chips, chipoltle salsa and creamy guacamole dip. Martin and Staci brought 2 bottles of wine and lots of beer. Jordan and Tyler brought mashed potatoes and a few other goodies.

We watched NFL and college football on ESPN.com so it felt like Thanksgiving after all in China. We stayed up until about midnight then we all crashed for the evening. Saturday morning we ate leftovers for breakfast and headed back to Longgang around 1pm. I tutored this weekend so I needed to get back.

Now it is time to lesson plan for the next few weeks. Have a great week!!!!
