I know there's a lot of stories and pics coming ur way but I havent had internet in my flat for a bit. Now that i have it and i have free time then why not tell u about it and catch up. China's still coming. Just a few more Thai Thai stories.
One of the best things I couldve done while in Thailand was to rent a motorbike. Why not? I got me some back home street skills. Back home is nothing like Thailand as far as motorbikes. It cracks me up cuz they trick these little bikes out. They make a little custom action to help them stand out. Standing out is a definite need here for the bikes. At the signals all the bikes come to the front of the line, they dont wait in line behind other cars, they pass when clear and sometimes they dont even have to pay attention to the street lights. Interesting! It all works some how. I wonder what a group of motorbikes are called? A gaggle? A school? A herd? A mob probably! Scary for sure but even more fun to be on one! I miss those things and the
weather! Ironically I wouldnt be caught dead on one them back home! SNOB!
Any way, staying on track. I went to see the Biggest Buddha of Thailand. They're signs everywhere! Connor says destroy it, cuz it's that big. It''s the all watching Buddha. There are Monks who live their. They walk around in their yellow robes all the while talking on their cell phones. That was odd. Did you know a woman cannot give or hand anything to a Monk? The item has to be given to them only by a male. Hopefully exchanging bday presents wont be happening anytime soon. Or there better be some males around.
This Big Buddha sits on top of one of the biggest hills which takes bout 20 min of interesting roads or nonroads. I like the part where the paved road just stopped. WHAT!!!! As I'm sliding everywhere but home. Note to self to remember that patch of dirt. I keep going to the top and pass an elephant trekking guide. It was sad. elephants limited to being tied to a tree and their life is about trekking the same circles everyday. Great! I'll take two. Corin, you and PITA would
Almost there
Jus coming up on the back side of Budha. have a hard time here. Wondering where to start first. I kept to my morals and have not paid to touch or ride anything that belongs in the wild. It's been hard. I just want to touch them!
It was def interesting to see how they built him. They use fiberglass to make a mold and add marble pieces to create him. it''s like a huge planned out mossaic. a little fiberglass, some sticky stuff, add sand paper with elbow grease and lots of ladders. There's the Buddha. Crazy how big he is and how often I could see him thru the rides in Phuket.
Once to the top it offers an amazing 360' view. People can buy pleasantly noisy things to hang in the tree that was oddly beautiful. There are an abundance of cats that are so cute and adoptable. Peolpe can add an incense for a prayer, donate cash, and bang the bong? The big round vertical symbol/symbol. As the sun is setting I know it's time to go and watch for the eery roads, I mean nonroads. i get back to camp safely, thanks Big Buddha.
