Finished off another book last night before bed and passed out. good sleeping altho lots of dreams. one i was working at mcdonalds again. so weird.

anyways got up this morning and had hotel breakfast. bread, hard boiled eggs, fresh OJ, prepacked cake. not too bad. checked out of the hotel and they didnt seem to notice i made a couple of calls to canada and i forgot to mention it. haha they dont have my visa # just a copy of my passport so they can track me down if they like!

got to the train station and bought my ticket no trouble. 3 bucks for an hour and a half ride. very nice new train i was surprised. but pretty empty. beautiful countryside fields mountains towns palm trees vineyards... the comma buttons in a hard spot so im ignoring it along with most punctuation hehe

anyways arrived in selçuk and a man comes up to me asking if i want to stay at his pension (kinda like a house turned hotel) and it was one of the ones on my list to check out so i said yes please and his son came and drove me there. sweet. staying in a room with one guy apparantly french who i havent met yet. kinda shabby place but whatever its cheap and in the center of town. to get to the center i have to walk under a byzantine aquaduct.. whats left of it anyways. cool.

so i went for a walk around town and stopped at a restaurant for some lunch. 7 dollars for adnan kebap and fanta. a log of slightly spicy mystery meat with rice bread lettuce tomato fried tomato fried beans and zucchini... pretty good i must say.

then headed up a hill to see the basilica of saint john. apparantly he lived here for a while before he died and brought the virgin mary with him. there was a huge basilica for him which is in ruins now but must have been amazing in its time. lots of touts around trying to sell stuff. as i was going to the basilica some guy was trying to get me to buy his guide so i said no and kept goıng and he says Dont be cheap cheap cheap!! hahahha i cracked up laughing and so did he.

anyways after i left thre this carpet seller calls out to me and asks to see my book then takes the book inside his shop and of course i have to follow. i felt a little bad because i assumed he was just trying to get me to buy some of his carpets (which he did mention) but really just seemed to want to chat.

got away from there and went to the ephesus museum. ephesus is the big site around here and pretty much why i came down this way. gonna do it tomorrow as its pretty much an all day kind of thing. its 3km away but im just gonna walk out there.

weathers still the same. off and on thundershowers with some sunshine and close to 20 degrees. im going around in short sleeves with locals in parkas staring me down. hilarious.

free internet at the pension which is nice. its pouring out now so im gonna take it easy and read up on what else to do here. gonna check into renting a motor bike too so i can go out to the coast and have a look. fingers crossed i dont get run down lol
