I finally made it to Kenya! Wow, it has been a long weekend of traveling...and it's not over yet.

Yesterday, Sidney (another student teacher from IU) and I had a 10 hour layover in Amsterdam! I was so excited about all the things we got to see/do. We got off at central station, which is right by the red light district. We walked around quite a bit and found a nice restaurant with outdoor seating. The weather was probably high 50s and nice. We had some lunch along with a beer of course. Then we walked around to see the sights. ...soooo interesting. It did remind me a bit of Venice with all of the narrow streets and waterways. But with many more bars, etc...

Then we took a canal cruise around the city...very cool. We stopped off at Anne Frank's house and did a tour of the place she hid out during the war. We also went to the VanGogh museum. So much history and everything was just so beautiful.

We finally got on our last 8 hr. flight and arrived in Nairobi this morning. We missed the bus to Bungoma so we are staying the night in Nairobi. We were picked up this morning by a man with our names on a sign, waiting outside customs of course. =) So my first view of the city was by his car, and wow do they like to drive crazy here. He brought us to Mary's house. She is the director of travel organization that gets us from place to place. We are lucky that she has finished a guest house for us to stay in! It has a shower, toilet and everything. =) The area she lives in is very nice.

So far today, we went to a baby elephant rescue center where they rescue elephants whos mothers have been poached and killed. We were there when they were being fed and they were soooo cute! 30 baby elephants. =) Then, we went to a giraffe resuce center where we actually got to feed the giraffes and pet them. I actually was talked into putting a piece of food in my mouth for the giraffe to lick off me, by a man who works there. Yes, i kissed a giraffe. =) We just finished lunch back at Mary's house and are enjoying the sunny outdoors. =)

In the morning we leave for Bungoma which is an 8 hour drive. I'm so excited to get there! =)
