so my stay in south africa is coming to an end. which is wonderful really. and i got the best possible news. the labs in tanzania apparently were at fault. and my reason for coming to south africa completely null and void. well not completely. bc if i wouldnt have come then i wouldnt have found out that im not sick. wonderful though. it was a very emotional week when all is said and done. i wasnt sure if i was going to be going back to tanzania. but now i am. and im elated.

tomorrow ashley and i should be heading back to tanzania. and the day after that i should be in singida town. and the day after that i should make it to my village. all very exciting.

the time spent in south africa has been wonderful. and has been a very large reminder of what we have been missing in the states. small luxuries. hot showers. real face wash not just soap. feeling clean. wearing shorts or dresses above the knee. eating out. fine dining. today is half priced pizza day. so that should be good. and i had ribs the other night. amazing.

and also another wonderful thing. i have written a peace corps partnership grant for an infrastructure project in my village. we are planning on building a 'soko' or marketplace because currently we dont have one. the link for this project is
https://www.peacecorps.gov/index.cfm?shell=resources.donors.contribute.projDetail&projdesc=621-209 or you can just go to the peacecorps.gov page, click on donations, then type my last name in 'kimura' and it should pop up. please pass this on to friends and neighbors. all donations are really appreciated by the village and myself. we have already begun clearing of the fields where the market will be. and all of the villagers are very supportive of this project and cant wait.

on a sad note. peace corps tanzania has had to say goodbye to a volunteer. yesterday was the memorial for joseph chow. last week he died in a rock climbing accident. he was supposed to be finishing his service in a couple months, transferring from kenya last year. i met joe during our inservice training last february and saw him a couple of times in between. and its just really sad. for his family back home. his peace corps family. and his village family.
