Cape Cod Pt 1

Typically the day we left Boston for our drive down to Cape Cod was the best weather yet. We decided to drive through Weymouth MA - because when you come from the old Weymouth you should compare it to the new Weymouth. It was very picturesque, however we never managed to find the town centre - maybe it doesn’t have one. The Town Hall puts ours to shame though.

The Cape is certainly much bigger than you initially think, and with beaches either side, a zigzag route proves confusing but picturesque. Discovering the limits on the roads is interesting and less than a week into the trip and Chris is already in trouble with the law. Maybe seeing a man coming towards you with his hand on his weapon was a sign of things to come.

Our planned destination was Provincetown, right at the tip of Cape Cod. What can we say about Provincetown, it’s like a curious mixture of St Ives, Blackpool and Brighton. What we mean is the Art & Hippy culture of St Ives, the 70’s accommodation of Blackpool all financed by lots and lots of Pink Pounds (or Dollars in this case). The town is quaint with every second house along the main street being a gallery or antique shop, many of which have unusual names or apt names. We spent our first evening eating at the Lobster Pot - great lobster and clam bake, but again not very cheap. PTown by night is an interesting experience as you walk down the main street, beautifully dressed ladies with beards come out to play. When you next see her ask Lisa about the ‘special’ moment in the Gay nightclub ;-)

The following day we decided to have a thorough exploration of the town during the morning and because the weather was so gorgeous a visit to a couple of the Capes beautiful beaches for a bit of sunbathing was essential. Long Nook Beach on the Atlantic side is a great morning beach, and then as the sun moved behind the huge dunes we followed it to Corn Hill on the Bay side where the water was slightly warmer.

Great Start
Hi Guys. Just to let you know that I am already hooked on the blogs. Takes me back to when I did it! Can't believe you went all that way to end up in Weymouth! The long arm etc
OK. I assumed stupidly that as the speed limit in built up areas was 45 it would be this in open Woodland. Unfortunately it was 25 and I was doing 48 when we passed the policeman. After pulling over it was a bit unusual seeing a bloke coming towards you with a weapon in hand. Luckily the hapless English fop seemed to do the trick and only a verbal warning was issued.
