Sunsets from my roomSunsets from my roomSunsets from my room

These are so easy to take..haha
This weekend, we had a dance class at school. It was very fun. We learned different ways of dancing in Bahia, lots of feet movements. I also went to the beach on Friday. I haven't brought my camera there, so next time, I'll take pictures of the beach closest to my place-Porto da Barra (double r's are pronounced like "h"), +-30 minutes walk.
I went to Leo's basketball game. His team played against another, and I think the tournaments are between different teams in Bahia. He's #8 in the bright yellow uniform. His team played against a poorer situated team (underdog of the game). There is a socio-economical difference between the teams and in terms physical sizes, the other team had tiny players. At half-game, it was already 20 v. 6 points, I dont know the final score but it must have been something of a landslide for Leo's team. While the yellow team mostly came with a parent who drove them (so some of the players were late), the cream colored team came together as a group, making me think that they were bused (don't get me wrong, family and friends came to cheer for them too). Another thing I

noticed was that besides physical appearances (shades of skin color and height/weight), the cream team had two balls to practice with while the yellow team had four. I may be reading too much into it, maybe they didn't want to bring so many, who knows. It was interesting. I had açai (pronounced:ah-sigh-ee) after the game, it's this blended ice and fruit mix originated from the Amazons. It was good!
On Sunday, I went to family friend's place and had crab and bean+meat soup. It was interesting. That family has 2 girls and 1 boy, another two girls came over to play, and all together they were quite rowdy, different from this quiet and small family.
I dont know if you noticed, but, we're very fancy here. We have different silver platters for desserts, coffee cups and a little dish, and the main plate for food. Hmm..haha, I'm so well-mannered now. By the way, my Portuguese is still not so good after two weeks.. too busy using my mouth to eat.haha
I'm going to visit Pelourinho on Tuesday, that is the historic center of the city, so look forward to those pictures!

The two teams. The ghetto cheering squad for the cream team. Most of the audience sat on my side.

Woah.. that dessert looks amazing. Fresh fruit!! I love coconuts. We had these tiny ones in Africa. Fresh off the tree. They hacked it open with machetes.
