Surprise! Alan and I are back on a ship again. This time, we're cruising on Regent Seven Seas Mariner starting in Vancouver and ending in Singapore . In case you didn't count up the days, there are 52 of them (excluding crossing the International Date Line).

Today, we're cruising the Inside Passage on our way to Alaskan ports. The sun is shining and we're pleasantly surprised that it's warm and sunny enough to enjoy breakfast on the back deck of La Veranda. As we sip coffee, heavily forested islands slip by. And, the sea is so smooth that it feels like Mariner is sailing on glass.

Yesterday, we flew from Tucson to Vancouver, keeping our fingers crossed that we'd make it to the ship on time. We were among the last to check in. A bottle of champagne, box of candy and special flower arrangement were waiting for us in our cabin, along with the luggage that we had previously shipped.

Tonight, after a day of smooth sailing and settling in, we enjoyed the first of many nights in the Observation Lounge before dinner. As we sailed up a narrow fjord, dusk turned the colors to blues and grays, while a whale spouted close to shore. The serene scene was the perfect start to many days of sailing as we discover new ports.

Where will we be going? Alaska, Siberia, Japan, S. Korea, China, Hong Kong, Viet Nam, Thailand and Singapore. Alan and I hope you'll stick around as we share our experiences and photos. Next up? A float ride to Misty Fjords National Monument in Ketchikan, Alaska.

Bo Voyage
Ahoy there Donna and Allan. As you two sail the seas, I am raising a toast and wishing you'll bon voyage. I only just discovered "travelblog" (Oh no...don't ask where I've been hiding?) I guess we all learn something new everyday. I've never been able to travel, but that won't stop me from admiring and appreciating all those who do. At least through your lovely blogs we will learn even more about this beautiful world we live in. Looking forward to some more lovely pictures from you.
