Arose at 6:30 am. I learned how to set the alarm clock on my cell phone, after all this time - so I can awake in my cell/room without having to depend on John to knock on my door. Yea!
It was raining this morning, John and I went in to Edinbrugh on the bus (30).
THINGS I HAVE LEARNED ON THIS LEARNING CURVE SO FAR:
1. how to use alarm clock on cell phone
2. black shoes fit my feet much better for walking than my biege ones - less painful, more comfortable
3. Back pack is much easier to take into city than purse. can carry umbrella, jacket, water bottle , camera, wallet
ID, money, food & snacks, notebook or papers, pen, lip stick - all at once and both hands are free when
walking. More comfortable too.
4. Cary key and swipe card in my left pants pocket , camera (without case) and klenex in my right pants pocket,
clip on dark glasses in my neckline when not wearing them.
Amazing! So much more comfortable - It has taken me this long to "adjust" About the time I get it all figured
out, we'll be ready to leave.
We start walking up the hill to Edinburgh Castle and find its much easier with 2 umbrellas. Rain is much heavier today than yesterday - we got soaked pretty much in spite of umbrellas and jackets. BUT it cut down upon the crowd - some. "Castle" is pretty much a misnomer because once you're inside the walls you find that its really 4 to 5 buildings or towers connected by cobblestone streets.
We saw what we wanted to and then left the castle. As we were leaving, we noticed coach, after coach, after coach, with a few cars thrown in, waiting in a crowded line to get into the castle. Streams of people walking the opposite direction from John and I, also to get in. It was raining less and we were glad to be leaving.
In present times, there has been a large esplanade constructed in front of the Castle with a large grand stand for audience (about 5,000) for the Military Tattoo. We're scheduled to see the Military Tattoo next friday night.
We had lunch in a restaurant called Belle Italia on the corner of High Street
commemorative statue
soldier feeding his mount and Northbridge. We "dried out" from the rain and had a delicious meal.
We rode the train back to QMU, had a quick rest, and then took the bus to Pilrig Studio, our performance venue, for a tech rehearsal for Mainstage Fringe. It was a good chance for the cast and crew to adjust to their performance space and do some quick "run-throughs".
On the way back to QMU, we all decided to order chinese take out and have it in our dorm kitchen for dinner. Then the students all went to the Calidgh (party) that was held in the dinning hall at QMU while I put my feet up and rested. Ahhhhhh!
