Toronto didn't start too well for me. After a look into the Bible I decide to walk to the Hostel (as always it doesn't look too far on the map). After a good morning walk of 20 minutes leading me through the sleepy (it is only 6 AM after all) Chinatown of Toronto I find the street - but not the Hostel. When I come to the house that is supposedly the hostel there is a tiny note in the window saying "sorry, this is not a hostel anymore". Great... swiftly I hoist my backpack and start out for the next Hostel. And, of course, they are fully booked (a special torture is the free pancake breakfast they are serving while I get the bad news). Already playing with the idea of leaving Toronto again I head to the third Hostel. Finally room for me. And, after a stroll on the "beach" and a little nap the sun shines brighter already. But the best thing is still to come: The Hostel has its own bar! This makes my day (and night) as the company is great, and the beer good.

As far as Toronto's sights are concerned, the two main attractions (main only because of their size) are the CN tower and Rogers stadium. Although impressive due to its height I decided against waiting in line for a ticket, then waiting in line for the elevator up, then waiting for the elevator down, and, as I probably would have to use the bathroom from all the waiting, waiting in line for this as well. Rogers stadium doesn't qualify for sightseeing either as there is a coldplay concert that evening for which there are no more tickets available. Instead a stroll around town brings me to a free open-air concert in the middle of downtown. When looking up from my delicious chinese noodle dinner, there is Itchy (how exactly his name is spelled I don't know, or for that matter if it is his real name) whom I met it Tadoussac. Quelle surprise! A fun night with him and other travellers is about to start.

The next morning brings pancakes for breakfast which are made by the last person you would ever expect to make pancakes. Tall, loads of muscles, used to be in the army, wearing a white tank top. More strolling and sightseeing, and a concert in the evening.

The surreal vision of coming back to Michigan is now only a greyhound bus ride and a U.S. immigration procedure away.

surreal
Naja, weil es einfach eine schon so lange Zeit war die ich nicht dort verbracht habe, und man dann doch ein wenig mit der Sache abschliesst. Und jetzt ist es eben doch wieder von einem entfernten memory zu einem echten Ort geworden.
